    Race bike insurance?

Another year has rolled around and the premiums keep going up.
    I am currently using NAC.
    Just for Fire & Theft.

    Who do you use?
And how much does it cost?
Who is the best and cheapest?

You insure your race bike? How much does that cost? Whos the company that does that?
At last count I had over 10 insurance policies...the last thing I need is to be paying more money to freaken insurance companys.
Who else insures their race bike?

Pretty much any company will insure your race bike EXCEPT when you're at the track.

    Kiwibike have always been great.

Just for theft, fire & storage.
Although I am currently trying to find out if I can add it to my contents insurance.
Seems to be that for a $10k bike its about $300 a year with Kiwibike, Protecta and NAC

Ask around bike shops that sell motoX bikes. Luke had to have his insured for fire, theft, and transporting when it was financed.

I can handle it for $359 per annum assuming a $10k value Scorry. That's through Golightly, Vero.

Holy shit that sounds like a lot... I have full insurance on my road bike for not a lot more than that.
Let us know if you are successful with adding it to contents.

I talked to state about it once, they put me through to NAC, NAC were going to charge me some stupid sum of money like $15,000 I think?

but that covered the bike and all the gear and equipment for fire and theft and transport and something else, for some reason I didn't ask or couldn't get JUST fire and theft, I think the insurance was aimed at like maximum expensive race cars and boats.

    Cheers guys.
Yeah it is a lot, then you add on the up to $1,000 excess you have to pay when you do actually need insurance.
Hence why I am asking the question, is it really worth it?

    a necessary evil

We have race and road insured together with Star insurance via Kiwibike, its about $700 a year for them both. I think the race bike is $270 with a $10k value and $500 excess.

With all the bike thefts going on at the moment, I think you'd be silly not to pay it.

www.kiwibike.co.nz give a discount to Victoria Motorcyle Club members (just have to phone them)
