I seem to remember they recorded the heart rate of Rossi & Biaggi . Rossis stayed low with minor blips when he had a scare but it rapidly returned to a low rate. Biaggis was sky high, over 200 at times if i remember correctly

    Interesting stuff !
I had a big (falling to the ground clutching your chest) heart attack about 18 months ago and now wear a heart monitor when I race (clubmans) after a race my average heart rate for the session is about 140. My resting rate is 75 that jumps to about 90 -100 as soon as I hear the 5 min call for my race !! I have no clue what my max heart rate is and I'm not sure I want to find out I am pretty sure that even in my prime it wasn't anywhere near the 180 -200 range !!!
I will have to invest in the device to download the data to my PC.
Oh I'll be 60 next year

I saw that a couple of days back, might try one on the sidecar at some stage, what about when the guy crashes in front of one of them, big spike then

Yes it is Wharfy, I was heavily into Squash until age 50 and was measured from rest 42 bpm to 195 while playing ! 195 is a lot for a 45 yr old. While preparing for my third knee op the nurse said "do you feel ok?' I said why and she said your heart rate is very low !!! 40 !! haha
My eldest son was at the AIS Australia in cycling, his ticker went to 208 if I remember correctly ?
    Always interested me that stuff.

Same here roogazza I was 47 having a knee op two years ago. My resting rate is around 40ish. the anethesist came to see me after and said during the op my heart rate never varied. "you will live forever" Haha yeah right. Would have liked to see what my heart rate in the seconds leading up to a crash year before last.

That's a pretty cool cucumber to stay as low as 130bpm. What an enjoyable workout though!

Used to be a rule of thumb that max heart rate was 220 minus your age. When I used to race mountainbikes seriously my max was 186 and resting 39. Miguel Indurain Tour de France multiple winner had a resting rate of 29 if I remember correctly. Varies wildly from individual to individual.

Hell Carbon, I can feel my heart rate climbing already ! I head off to the Italian GP tomorrow morning at 6.30am.

Hope the airport is operating !

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

A very rough Rule of thumb, and closer to good luck more than good management if the rule actually applies to the individual.

I frequently crack 190 (@ 41) and rest is below 60 if i haver trained for a bit.......
VO2 Max is another indicator. Mine is 52 if I am really fit, usually arounf 45. Apparently Mitch Evans has a VO2 Max of 82!!!!

On a track day my Ave HR was 155.... Not going to wear a monitor while racing though.......

Maybe you've got one of those itsy bitsy teeny weeny hi revving hearts?

I stopped racing MTB's when I was 40 so that's when I had a max of 186. I daren't even look what my resting rate is now.
