now I know this would go down well at Orewa College as they have 3 or 4 bucketers in the waiting (that I know off) and plenty of young guys waiting for the chance to throw a leg over something

the 2 hour usually get quite a few spectators so if you can swing a pie cart and coffiy van I'm sure it wouldn't go a miss

the big thing is Mt Wellington is to SMALL!!!! to support all the idears

how about inviting a few maggazine edditors out for a ride or 5. Get one of them into building an f5 bike as an article in the mag. Means i would buy there mag for as many issues as it takes to build it

Remember street magics, we ran them in a separate class, but only on the kart track. We have out little "fads". Up norf we are separated from the real racing but that's just the way it is. In Auckland the real bikes used to only run at Pukekohe and a bucket was a bit challenged on that track. One thing that could be done would be to enter a group of top buckets at Wanganui and group them together in the pits and have some sort of on-track identification so the crowd could pick them out. Wanganui has a very diverse crowd and group of racers. Promotion never hurt any class. It would even be a bit of a slap in the face for the "real" racing crowd if something starts happening and works. Maybe even a static display at a real bike, or car, or kart, meeting, or even school fairs. Perhaps even an inter-school challenge. It could start with just the young guys currently racing with trophies being presented at a school assembly.
What about Paeroa????? I would be keen to race there. Had a look through the entry form this year but couldn't find a class to enter the FXR in. I am shore we would get better numbers than we did at Hampton Downs. That long straight is a bit hard on a bucket engine. The posties hang out together there, so do the chairs. Im sure we could get a group of us together, but remember "no patches"

A brolly dolly each at Paeroa would get some attention, just saying. Good idea though - Paeroa.

No. A poll suggests someone wants to take action and the poll gives others a chance to have their say BEFORE action is taken. Sounds to me that you are barking up the wrong tree.

Buckets is fine as it is. At the moment it's about racing, I'd hate to see it turn into entertainment. Not that I can see that working anyway, the general public just doesn't give a toss about any sport that doesn't involve a ball and serious TV airplay.
As for the street meetings, I'd love that to happen but just can't see it in the NI, the programmes at Paeroa and Whanganui are plenty full as it is.
Big tracks? You can enter your bucket in the development class at the AMCC rounds at HD, the fact that few bother may tell you something about the track and the way most bikes up here are set up.

    What have I been missing?

Man, I think everyone needs to take a chill pill, you'd swear someone had cut your'e nutsacks off and posted them to your grandmother the way people are talking on here.

Looks like he is asking the question, and am pretty sure he now knows the answer!

Would anyone be keen on something like sausage sizzles or taco stands?

Just a thought that was lingering in my mind... Let me know what you all think about it
All good ideas, maybe best to start by talking with the people who are allready heavily involved in organising the meetings you have been to and liked so much, as they are keen to promote the sport too.

A quick chat with Brian, Mel, Cully and Tim to see what their thoughts are, would be a good start if you want to help kick things along.

My thoughts too, doesn't hurt to ask the question and offer assistance if it's wanted. Burger vans and music don't do much for me at these events but our sport deserves a better profile for the good of motorcycle racing in general and if a bit of promo works (excluding the mentioned) then all good and well. I am sure its not going to go from 30 riders to 90 riders overnight at most meetings. As I have said before it'd be nice to get more young riders along so we can watch them step onto the world racing ladder.. I overtook Avalon once or twice a few years back... can't see that happening again!!
