I have an Abbot and Ashby 6" with linisher.
Had it 20 years and use it a lot.
I use the linisher for final shaping and base sharping of knife blades and it works very well.
Have a medium wheel on one side and either the linisher or polishing wheel on the other side.
Take care but,,they love fingers.

I have 2 grinders one side with wire wheel that gets used most, one buff & 2 stone. Like a linisher too.

Ok just to close the loop on this thread. I finally bought a bench grinder.
Ok it is nothing special at all, but it was a total of $41, has done fuck all work and pick up was only about 5min away from home so I thought WTF. Worst I can do is kill it.
For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Hmm, didnt realise that was the origin. Will keep and eye on the stones for sure. Would still like to et somthing bigger, but I will worry about that once the shed has actally been set up to some degree (currently using the trailer as a work bench) then I can just wack a wire wheel and maybe a polisher on this one.

Colt used to be the brand Wh ran up until about 5yr ago. Not to say much of the other cheap grinders, like my Ryobi are better or worse.

Those colt grinders were $30 at the wharehouse years ago. Dont hold anything against it too hard or the belt will burn out real quick, and you cannot get replacements. More of a big rubber band than a belt actually.

Damn I got here too late. I got a cheapo Ryobi grinder from mitre 10 or somewhere a few years ago & although it is unfortunately going to keep going for years it is bloody easy to stall. had I known then I would have got a gruntier model. I have to live with it for a few more years till i kill it dead.
I'd love a linisher.
