I can see what you are trying to start there and I'm not interested sorry

But if you really want to know and aren't just trying to wind me up. Yes, I replied to everyone good and bad. I even replied to and asked the 5 people who sent me no cover letter or cv and just put in the body of the email that they wanted a job, to send me their info.

Was pretty good actually. Was in charge of putting all the saftey cages and rails up, great job for a wasted punk rocker. The owners were rob and russel coutts, and rob was the one that hired me. I wouldn't of let me on the site.

I'll start a shitfight here because I really don't want to create a whole thread on it (yet):

I spoke to one of our recent applicants today and told her that she would have to remove or obliterate the swastika tattoo from her hand before we could hire her. I did this because the swastika represents a regime who killed the sort of people we support at work (intellectually disabled). Discuss.

Wouldn't have even contacted them were I you. Should I have seen such a thing on the hand of one of my brothers carers, I'd have raised hell!

She said she understood when I explained why. I also mentioned that we had half a dozen people with a German background on staff and it would be offensive to them too.

Exactly the sort of reaction I was afraid of from our guys families too. Many of them have elderly parents and that symbol is more than just a mark of youthful rebellion.

For what it's worth, this woman was quite nice and throughly regrets getting the tat when she was much younger.

There were swatikas on the first version of my wedding invite. Perfectly legit - as my Wife and in-laws are Indian. Religious symbol and all that.

However, with an invite being sent to my last Grandparent in the Netherlands - someone who lived through the Nazi occupation of their country - I had the things replaced by Om's. Just easier and safer than having to explain the point of the symbol.

    Back on thread topic:

I have a friend who is a hiring/firing managerial type at a large Govt. department.

When 100 people apply for 5 jobs; any CV's with spelling mistakes go straight into the round file. The culling has to start somewhere.
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.

Yeah I'm a bit of a spelling and grammar snob when it comes to applications myself.

Did you consider offering to pay for it's removal if she was hired?

I blame the culture of mediocrity in the education system
actually, since entering the employee side again i always re ask the questions answered in an advert, can tell way more from body language when they get answered than any piece of paper will tell you.

but i do agree about our pathetic education system where schools take kids out of classes they are not doing well in just so the school looks good on paper
