I understand that leathers and rain suits aren't for everyone but I find it hard to believe these pants are going to let you walk away from an accident anymore so than pants 1/4 of the price.

Not having a go...if I could afford them (and by that I mean 2 grand is something I make an hour) I probably would buy them.

Of the textiles, this gear is some of the best in the world. Top 5 in the world, the likes of Alpinestars, Rev'it, Dainese etc, do not make the list. It's the likes of Rukka, Hein Gericke et al that make that list.

Superfabric on the impact points gives abrasion resistance in the leather realm, it's one of the very few CE certified garments, not just the armour, goretex used in construction, gore lockout on the front of the jacket. Hard to explain it all, but it's only when you pick it up and feel it, than you realise the major difference to normal gear. Heavier than normal gear as the cordura is a heavier grade as well (among other things).

Ultimately, your choice. I wouldn't buy the gear if I was going for the odd ride a couple of Sundays a month. Mileage is slow at the moment, but previously, it was 30k odd on one bike alone, in a year (almost all country riding, a lot of distance stuff), and the protection was well worth it. Would it protect you more than gear 1/4 of the price? Definitely. Ask anyone who's had gear blow apart when put under pressure, they've experienced it happening. Why are cheap leathers single or double stitched? Expensive ones are triple stitched... there's reasons, and also options that suit each budget.

I really do....they are pricey and we are trying to work with the team in Germany to sort the pricing out, but to be honest it's probably still not going to be in the range that most will want.

Last week I visited the Touratech HQ in Germany and yes Rukka produce great gear and I got to try it on, however the cost is, and will no doubt remain prohibitive to many (most). It is true, no price can be placed on protection at the time you actually need it, but you still want to know it was cost effective and worth the investment for normal use in the NZ weather extremes.

If you are looking for something then I suggest you ignore the web price for these type of items and you contact me directly for a quote...I will personally review each one of them and be open and clear about the costs. It was pointed out on this thread that we don't carry this gear here in NZ, and you are correct...there are so many size variants and this gear is pretty unique and rare riding gear in NZ we daren't carry it as normal stock in NZ.

What I can confirm is the people I have talked to who bought Rukka and Companero love it and have no regrets...

I purchased a Rukka armas combo last year. Absolutely top notch. Pricey yes, but worth it. Do not knock the gear until you have actually tried it. Certainly for me it helps financially that the Mrs and I have no kids and are not having any!

absolute crap

probably never been ashfelt surfing in your life

or if you have it was in a car park

plastic Para rubber will go down the road at well over 160 k , and be fine , ( been there done that )

I have had ( and still have ) my Rukka copy from my London DR days , ( para rubber copy in rukka colours ) , zips bust , hole in the elbow and STILL water proof and cheap then and cheap now,,,,

and I/it went down the road ,,,,,lets just say "often" .....those that did it would know

I all honesty I havent found a better combo of a PVC jacket and pants , OR ( not so good ) a textile Jacket , PVC pants and a Cheap Pvc over jacket ( thin, just to defect the water )
or a pvc top and bottom and a one piece over suit.. line7 used to be the biz

Test , if it can withstand a pool of water , for a few hours ( in your crotch) its water proof

and most probably will slide well

Well, without wishing to be rude, you'd look sorta funny riding down the road on a GN250 wearing a Rukka suit that likely cost more than the bike.

Not to say that stops me wearing helmets on the SJ50 that cost up to double what I paid for the moped. I don't wear my BMW gear on the scooter though. If it's *that* wet I'll use the car - or stay at home.

That was the implication, and he rides a GN250. I'm a poor student too, my bike was $2k and I have roughly $1k worth of gear. No leathers, but as soon as I can afford it, leathers are on the list well before a new bike. Assuming my bike is still going when I can afford that stuff.
