alternatively ( Just for you Alan ) from Ohura turn onto Taranui Rd follow through to Waitaanga Rd onto Mangaroa then Tongaporutu/Ohura Rd & finally Okau Rd which will lead you to SH4, hang a right & your @ 12km from Mokau..... sound abit like you ?

Done some of that already. Last time I was down there I did Waitaanga, Mangaroa, Okau, Mangapapa, Moki, Ohura then back out the Forgotten Highway.

Open source maps are pretty inaccurate in that region, so that's also on my imaginary list of roads I need to explore (except that it's a whole region). I went down Ngatoto Rd South, just north of Purangi and barely got back out when I struggled for grip up a steep clay section...

I MAY end up coming down for Sunday's leg Maha ( meet at Ohura ), I'm familiar with that loop your taking home, I can lead/wait at junction points etc,etc.... where are you stopping for lunch on the Sunday? more than willing to help you guys & gals enjoy the KING COUNTRY

Have you settled on a meet point yet?..Taupo/Hamilton and Taupo/Pirongia are both 152kms.

Okau through to Tahora is my preferred route down SH43, did junction rd following the Waitara river once damn farmers on quads

Just rang the Prison and the Cossie Club opens at 4pm.

Some of us will be going to the Cossie Club for a drink.

Just a question or two (please Mr Maha) but does anyone know if they will let us in - not being members and all - I would think they would be happy for the business. And for those with the dinner option is there a set time or do we turn up whenever?? As in my perfect world I will have something to eat, go to the cossie club, get a jug or 4 in and watch the AB's spank the Aussies. Only 3 sleeps away!!

Just a quick look at metvuw it looks like the worst of it will be confined to the northern Waikato. Not good news for most, but at least better news for the Southern leg.

It's also part of clubs nz so anyone who is a member of a clubs nz club should be able to sign in a guest or two, and I think with a quick word to the manager anyone else will be welcome for a quiet brew with the game.
