This is stacking up to be an interesting ride, with dares and prizes and limoncello. Makes my mankini seem a little tame!
(unless I bring the fur-lined one - for warmth of course
I'd rather be sorry for something I've done, than for something I didn't do.

    A little tale of woe

FFS! Following on from my history of breaking myself prior to these rides, I find myself with a poxy cast on my left wrist

I have managed to tear my Scapholunate Ligament. Dont ask! Will be min of 6 weeks, hopefully only 2 in a full cast at this stage

    ooo ouch!! That sucks Anne

I'll hopefully have my cast off my left hand by the time the ride comes around, but still won't have a bike

You really don't have much luck do you?

    Bummer!

At least with a wrist in plaster you can still pillion.

Wristy business but on the other hand, it's only a thumb.
At least it's just a tear not a break. And being the clutch hand, it may need a workout in 4 weeks anyway

I am a bit gobsmacked to be honest, stupid injury and one that anyone could suffer. You just don't know when you are going to get pinged.

They say a min of 2 weeks in a cast, then a recheck. If it has settled then I get a removable splint for 4 weeks. Not sure that using a clutch will be on the allowable list of things to during that time though

Bum, bum, poohs and wees with lots of cheese is all I can say about it really.

You could always fit a centrifugal clutch, or just do clutchless shifts then you only have to use it at intersections.

My last bike had a worn clutch and I got very proficient with clutchless shifting, now that is thinking right there. I am quietly confident that it will be healed enough to ride

Never got that last part though. Because if I got hit by a bus the state of my underwear would probably not be a high priority.
On the Saturday Morning, do you want to meet us at Onewa Domain carpark opposite the Poenamo Tavern on Northcote road?
