Is the cossie club still open?? Seems they put a newsletter out a few months ago??

Could be a place to drink & be merry (dont have much space for BYO and getting a thirst for the weekend already.

Someone did mention that there was a Cossie club there, I would be keen on a stroll for sure Murray. I think they serve Adult drinks at the prison?

From the Prison Website '' Enjoy a drink at the Cosmopolitan Club''

    OMG its that soon?? Eeeek

I think I might be ready after my long trip today. And now I know I can get over 170km out of my tank on open road, that took 10ltr so I think I could get 180-190?

Still going to do a training with Rider Skills before we go. I don't want to be that kid that holds everyone up, or washes out trying to keep up.

All you have to think about is turning up and having a blast. There is very little in the way expectations from the newer riders. Riding at the legal limit is all that is required thank you very much ta
I control the speed from the front of the slower group and if I loose sight of anyone, I just slow it up for a km or two and we're away again.

I see from page 1 you still want a TEC for slower group?? - me and Trina happy to ride at the back. However we will only be meeting up with you at Pirongia, so happy to fit in with whatever you decide.

    Cheers

Feel free to help anytime Murray, depending on whether Anne is riding this one due to her wrist injury, she normally TEC's the slower group but I am sure she wont mind jumping in mid pack after Pirongia...

Hi all, I managed to get out in the weekend & head down to Ohura for a look for where you guys will be camping sorry glamping

Hazards to keep an eye on,
    - heaps of farm activity so poop & dirt on the road mainly by gateways but very visible
    - wondering stock NOT NICE
    - patchy roadworks here & there, very rutty from SH4 turnoff heading to Ohura, the first twisty signpost you will see is when it starts for @ 3-5kms mellows out a little after that, 80km to 90km is a nice comfort speed
    - very tight & twisty in places then opening into free flowing road very nice
    - when you get onto SH43 keep an eye out from Nevins lookout to Nevins Hill ( signposted ) patchy roadworks that creep up on you, twisty also
    - my main concern is weather ( lovely day when I went through ) if you are looking at rain/drizzle prior to or whist your there keep a eye out for moss etc, it was there when I went but I had dry road but could be nasty with a little moisture

Not much there to see, I suspect you will need to take all your own drinking material couldn't find cozy club, if weather is crap I would say it gets very there.. I would also suggest you guys & gals will certainly be a highlight for the locals roaring in to town, the takeaway menu is active between 5.30pm - 8.30pm also

Happy trails people, its a special type of place out there very nice rolling through them hills
I Used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass

Thanks once again Ride Logistics Officer
I take you will not be attending at any stage? Appreciate the time taken to scan the roads to be travelled in a few weeks time

Leaving time from Ohura is 10am on the Sunday, breakfast at the Prison but our first fuel stop is in T/Nui for fuel (50kms)...if anyone wants a coffee there or what ever that's fine, was planning a coffee stop at Tekuiti and a lunch break at Pirongia, basically a reverse of Saturday.
