    Yay! That's awesome.

Do you have to sleep wearing the jacket and the glove now or did you manage to take them off again

Was and effort to get the glove, but if you un-Velcro the wrist strap, well that helps
But I now have a human Global Positioning System for the trip

So you'll have very sore ribs by the time we get to Ohura then?

    Yay Mom, well done guys!
I'd rather be sorry for something I've done, than for something I didn't do.

What's the point in living if you don't feel alive?

Toying with ones mortality shouldn't be this much fun.

I have a few poignant rules for the slower group. If at any time the group separates for whatever reason, I slow the pace down for 2-3 kms or until I can see that we are all together again.
Apart form the first rule which applies to me, there are four in which to remember, that will ensure a safe and pleasurable ride.

:Each Group Leader will control the group speed.
:There Will Be No Passing Within the Group
:The Use Of Mirrors is Paramount in a Group Ride Situation, Please use them…ALWAYS
:Watch Your Following Distances With The Bike In Front, That Person is Your Friend.
:Staggered Formation Where Possible (no single file on the straight bits)

It is only natural for these four rules to slip out of the brain bank once we're under way. Riding on the Motorway for the first 1/2 hour or so, gives newer riders time to keep the four rules in check.
I can see in my mirrors whats going behind and if there is any concern, it will be mentioned at the first stop.

I recall on our first Cape ride in 2011, two real new riders were right behind me all the way up the Cape road, I explained to them before setting off what was expected and they impressed me very much with their road skill at that time.

Thankfully this ride is NOT a large group ride. It is very much a group of bikers, split into smaller groups that end up at the same place.

    Eventually.

The riding is well controlled and very inclusive of the newbie. We have no real expectations, other than you can ride at highway speed, and have a bike that can make the trip. Maha even goes to great lengths to consider, and incorporate the distance bikes can go before requiring fuel, and the distance some riders can go before requiring coffee

Relax! The most important thing about these trips away, is the bullshit we talk at the end of the ride. Oh, that and the bullshit spouted in the lead up to the ride, and heaven help us, the even more bullshit spouted after we are home safe and sound.
