I think you are a little short-sighted and selfish here. I know there are people on the dpb with 7 kids by the time they hit 25 and all that but lets talk about the general population. It is not a little commitment to have kids and a bit of support from the community is well warranted i think. NZ gives almost no support to child families anyway. As far as i recall NZ is country nr 112 on the list of country's supporting child families. Kids creates LOTs of jobs, today's kids will pay taxes when you retire, today's kids will be the nurses that will wipe your ass when your to old to do it your self, they will give you the hip replacement you might need when you fall of your electric scooter. So i general I'd say we need to help the child families and single parents a good deal. We have to try to minimise abuse of the system but that's the same with all systems.

I think you should worry about the people on the dpb that have been on it for years.

DAFE : If you wote NZ first does that ensure that we'll not get an other labor government ??????? Don't think so. Who knows what NZ 1st will do

EDIT : I do agree that there should be no money for sexchange ops. It seems a waste of doctor time to eval all these people too..... If they want a sex change theyll have to pay them self. If a sexchange can be paid for why then not boob job's or nose job's ??? and where does it end ? It would be better to pay for laser eye treatment, much cheaper (and i could use some )

This individual... who abused young children should not get it done on the Government, they should in this case pay for it themselves.

But some (whom I have meet) you would never know that they are not born a female. Yep they have the adam's apple totally reduced in size...
Some who have had it done are stunning. They have gone overseas to get the operation done.

They truely are born in the wrong body.

I know a F2M and you would not know that they were not born a male.
I knew him when he was a female... and was good looking. But the transformation was shit..... he looks and talks like a male....
He was born in a wrong body.

So why not help out one or two a year.... as I say not everyone will get it done.... they will still have to pay for it themselves.

How many of you guys who first saw "Miriam" in a picture thought WOW.....
well she hasnt completed the full operation yet... Yet she looks good..
she was born in the wrong body.

    Arrow News Flash!

A sex change operation for a 73-year-old has set the opposition questioning the Government's priorities with health funding.

At the end of this year Vicky Harvey will see a plastic surgeon for a $30,000 operation to make her a woman.

National Party health spokesman Paul Hutchison says there is cause for concern when there are 180,000 New Zealanders waiting for surgery.

Dr Hutchison says when you have tens of thousands of New Zealanders in pain waiting for operations, sex change surgery needs to be looked at.

What pisses me off is that able bodied people have children to get out of work and get their free lunch from the government and I get to pay it from my taxes. They refuse to work, continue to have more children and continue to get money from the Govt! And then there are people who say 'oh, it wasn't planned' Well, the previous 3 children should have given you a clue, close your F*cken legs!

I'm not short-sighted, I'm actually long-sighted, and I wasn't referring to people being on the DPB (don't even get me started on THAT!), I'm referring to all the tax breaks and financial assistance that the government bribes voters with. I still maintain that having children is a choice, like owning flash cars/bikes, taking overseas holidays or having pets. If you can't afford to have kids you shouldn't expect other people to help pay for your choice. I have no problem with people HAVING children, my problem is with these people expecting financial assistance to do so.

I have worked in many places where women (and it has always been women in my experience) have to take days off when their kids are sick or it's the school holidays and everyone else has to work harder to cover for them. And as for paid parental leave - again, your choice to have kids, why should your employer pay for you to be home with them as well as having to pay for someone to do your job until you return?

We don't have kids by choice, but if I couldn't have kids for any reason I would feel exactly the same way. To my mind it is no different from racial or gender discrimination, it is giving an unfair financial advantage to certain sectors of the community.

Whatever happened to living within your means? If you can't afford a particular lifestyle, you don't ask someone to slip you a few quid so you can! We're not on large salaries and we have bills to pay the same as they do, but we don't get any tax breaks, incentives or even community service cards. I can't go on the unemployment benefit because I am married and my husband is in full-time work, and being self-employed means I even have to pay my own ACC levies.

I realise we need to replace the population, but considering I have paid taxes most of my life, I don't feel I should also be expected to pay for people to breed the next generation! And besides, I hate kids!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
