Ever had any repercussions from reporting bad driving?
"....... Said driver then proceeded to tailgate me for another 200m, then when I gently put on the brakes as I was descending down a semi steep hill, saw her"
...my memorys not THAT bad lol
So...you have "a couple of years" experiance, and your in the most accident prone age group for motorcyclists.
...So either that must have been one HELL of a learning curve over those couple of years...or...your still learning like us all-(30+yrs daily riding...and Im still learning tips & tricks to survive & enjoy my chosen form of transport & passion)
But if ya don't want the friendly advice shared on here(hence the green rep), sweet as...don't ask for it!(that was the point of this thread wasn't it?)
...but don't let all that "percived experiance" you have thus far gained, go to your head...Because the simple fact is...it only takes ONE little mistake or ONE drunk driver etc to put you in a posistion of WISHING!! you took as many extra steps as possible to ensure your own safety, AND the insurance company payout afterwards if it all goes horribly wrong.<(Nothing worse than arguing with an insurance company after loosing your bike etc)
...but you are sooo right!, it DOES take two to tango, and a camera can also help keep yourself! honest and point out your own errors to learn from.
Remember...riders used to laugh at others for wearing helmets!...until the benefits were fully understood.
Take it how you may BL, I certainly don't mean to offend you (you truly do seem like a lovely KBer...and I have a soft spot for GN's...shhh), Im just sharing the advice & tips that I too learnt from others over the years.
As always, Take care BL
PS: I use a $50 kodak Zx1 with a fisheye lense..cheap as chips HD footage, just wipe the SD card and recharge the AA batterys every night...its now just part of my daily "gear"..hence I dont leave home with out it
pps:...sorry if my green rep seemed blunt etc, as many on here will attest too, I sometimes struggle with "wording" things correctly, but I never mean too offend fellow KBers (unless they are being absolute pricks! lol)
When Life thows me a curve
...I lean into it!
Haha, are you serious? One instance of my mentioning someone tailgating me now indicates I have a common and reoccurring problem with this? Hello, I live in Auckland! Enough said. I'm not really sure what you are trying to prove, are you trying to attack me or something too? Not sure there either. What do I have a couple years experiEnce of? Riding? Wrong, pay attention, I've only been riding since mid-December, driving for longer than that and have lived in Auckland all of my life, that's what crazy city folk do here yo! And of course, no one would deny that there is always something to learn, life is a learning curve for sure.
I'd also like to refute that you seem to think something is going to my head. Firstly, the only thing that goes to my head is some good Sauvignon Blanc. Secondly I consider myself neither an overly bad rider/driver or a particularly good one, in fact I'd say I'm pretty average and have been fortunate enough to have never been involved in a motor vehicle accident (minus the first time I drove a car when I was 16!). I still stand by what I have said above and always will, most undesirable situations we find ourselves in are created by... ourselves, although as humans our natural instinct seems to be to blame others for things that are usually of our own fault. This is my philosophy for pretty much everything in life, roads aside and is why I don't put up with whingy moany people bitching about how the world has done them wrong (not saying you're one but I sure have met a lot of people like that and stay away!). If I'm poor, I'm poor and it's probably due to poor financial planning, if I get knocked up with two kids far before I'm ready and when I'm too young, that's my fault etc. etc. I might still have a moan about it but I'll know that it's my fault and no one else is to blame.
I'm not 100% sure what you are trying to prove, I don't think I'm the bees knees (I'm more like the bees farts) I was just asking why people did such a thing, not as a criticism just as a wtf why bother? cause I honestly don't think I could be fucked for my 17km commute to work then back again. However if that's what you choose to do based on your past experiEnces then go for it, I don't care, doesn't bother me? But if people choose to not record their boring old commute then it should not be presumed that they are inexperienced or don't know anything etc.
Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.

Some of you are being overly sensitive. When did I ever attack people who use their camera? An overreaction me thinks. Oh well.

I'm looking at getting a camera as soon as I have the spare cash, mainly, like others have said, to record all the shoddy driving I encounter.
Once you have it hooked up and stuck to your helmet I doubt it's that much of a hassle. Unless something amazing happens it's not like you'll be spending an hour a night trying to take the footage off and add sweet checkerboard transitions between clips.
You'll just record over the old stuff until something does happen.
I stand to be corrected but I have heard that in the states insurance companies won't payout without in car video footage to prove you were not at fault...i am pretty sure all cars will have them soon
