Unhappy What is a great anti-everything protection for laptop?

What is an all round Anti everything product for my Laptops?

Just got done with a 'Australian Federal Police, Ukash' virus on my other laptop. Is locked.
Have to find somewhere on Sunday to get it sorted.

Was via FB pic on Friend of Friend's timeline. Clicked the link to FB Group who's pic was being shared. Cafe Racers United. BAM!!!

    Shows my ignorance.

    cheers

Anti Everything? Stop using it. Seriously. Even with a lot of protection, a user can still get infected. The key is educating the user not to click on anything and everything. Proof? I browsed for 6 months without anti-virus, any website I wanted etc, and never got infected because I knew when it was unsafe to continue. Only installed some because others started using the computer and that's when issues started occurring.

No anti-virus / anti-malware will stop everything, and you get 5 techs in a room, you'll get 6 opinions.

For anti-virus, if you want free, even Microsoft Security Essentials ain't bad. Paid, current preference is ESET. Anti-malware would be Malwarebytes.

The key to tackling viruses or malware is catching it early.

Thanks guys. This is my first virus.
Got a customer who's a 'Travelling' PC Tech to drop into work today. All sorted.
Will be vigilant on internet from now on.

You should run your browser in a sandbox, and set the sandbox to delete all the contents after every browsing session. That will at least stop the majority of web based malware.

    Thanks Smokeu

Will look into it. Sandbox sounds better... cat cracked it when I started eyeing off his litter tray.
