She's a desktop. I think the CPU and Motherboard are around 7 years old now.

So I might try some new thermal paste and make sure the fan is on nice and tight.

I dare say I'll replace the Motherboard and by the end of the year.

Invest in a smallish standard fan from the red shed. Open your PC box and place fan so it directs air over the internals. You are welcome

That depends on the CPU. Intel chips are designed to run much hotter than AMD.

intel chips have been known to unsolder themselves from the board...(causing similar problems to OP)

Either way. Its a pretty old rig, probably upgrade to last years tech fair cheap, which'll see you through 2020.

That's because it's not true. If that is 55-60 at idle, then yes reseat it with a new TIM/paste.
