I love new technology. As soon as I get our VCR programming sorted, I'm going to move on to entering ph numbers into the new cordless phone.

Yeah the whole exploration thing is what I like about it. I mean humans have pretty much explored every inch of the earths surface, branching off to space is the next logical step of discovery.
Brazil spent something like 3 times the cost on world cup stadiums than it would to send a unmanned probe to Saturn or a manned space craft back to the moon. The technology is certainly there at the present it just seems like no one actually gives a fuck. I think aerospace engineering is an exciting field. Who honestly gives a fuck if I can wave to answer my non-smart phone. The new forms of Ion propulsion such as the VASMIR look promising.

I just hope we don't fuck this planet up so much that we never discover what could actually be out there

try hitting a stationary 18" target in known conditions. Then put that target at 3000 feet with an airspeed over 60k/h
you might think your hot shit cowboy, but it aint practical.
Theyre electric. A decent emp would take them down. Hacking their control freq would be better, but improbable. So yes. Fuck them up with science.

As a matter of interest, the flight time on a 50 engaging a target at 2km is about 12 seconds.

Pretty hard to get to some of the earth in Fiordland, so I guess that makes it unexplored.

    Batteries.

The main problem we have these days with renewable energies is their fickleness. Sometimes clouds block the sun. Sometimes the winds don't blow.

Have a high-capacity, small-size, cost-effective battery, and all of a sudden you can store power when it's sunny / windy, then feed it back into the grid when it's not.

I also saw an idea along these lines to do with plugging in your electric car at night / work, and it acting like a battery for the grid.

Say you only need 30% of your battery capacity to do your usual driving. You could 'allocate' 50% of your battery to be a powersink for the grid. Feeds power into the grid when it's not sunny/windy, stores it when it is.

If you're planning a holiday, no problem, you just set it for full chargeup.

Any time you're allocating your car to be a sink for the grid you get a power discount.
