    Windows 8 FTP

    Phooey.

I was quite happy using IE and File Explorer to do the meagre FTP work I occasionally need to do.

But just found the firewall something something sun spots conspiracy lizards are not letting them work in Windows 8.

Anyone recommend a good FTP app from a reputable source?

    Thanks,

    Indeed.

For a giggle I downloaded a free FTP app off the Windows app store.

That was a complete waste of time.

    Will try filezilla.

Stumbled on Coffee Cup Free FTP which had already been downloaded to a share at work by someone, so grabbed a copy of that.

Worked fine. Just has an annoying animation to advertise the paid-for features.

I suspect the thing that made it work was the ability to set it to passive mode.

Will still try filezilla, on the weekend.

    Cheers,

Yes, most FTP need to be in passive mode.
