have wondered with people abusing motorcyclists just what are they think they are going to do to someone who is wearing a helmet & body armour with gloves that have amoured knukles if they got brave enough to get out of their car

They could put a scratch on their bike. That would be nasty

Really? I filter at the lights every day but have never filtered to the front at road works. Firstly I like other traffic to overtake when I am on a bike so have never seen the point, but also know that a car is going to go faster than me if the road surface is left in the usual shitty state that it is left in during roadworks. I'd be pissed if anyone jumped the queue and then held me up, whether on a bike, in a car or at Countdown.

That's exactly the point. They're not thinking at all.

I almost always filter to the front at roadworks if the queue is stationary (and there's room of course). The thing is that you know somewhere in that queue there's going to be someone that will hold you up, more than likely at the front. If it turns out that the one at the front is up my tail I'll more often than not pull over and let them pass. If the works are short enough I just get to the end and leave them behind (or let them pass when I find they're still faster than me).

True, but most likely they'll use the big cage as a weapon instead. In any case of road rage incident staying with the vehicle seems like a good option.

If they are fast enough to get hold of your helmet (probably not that hard given all the gear you're wearing), you're pretty much fucked.

+1 Trying to scrap in full gears is fucken hard work, and usually works against you. Unless they are real whimpy and you feel like swinging your dick a little just to get a buzz.

I don't think they have to worry about that.

More often than not it appears that the motorcyclist, after abusing the driver, "nails it through traffic".

    ('Runs away' in other words).

So how do you deal with road rage when on your motorcycle and confronted by an angry car driver?

They can kill you in their car

often I hear the car behind me gunning its engine to keep up with me after the light turns green

I *ALWAYS* slow and pull left to let them pass me, when I realise the car behind me is pissed and matching my bikes superior acceleration.

having an angry cager in front of you is better than an angry cager behind you

Peeps do dumb shit when they are angry
like when a fucking motorcyclist gets to the front of the queue

    peeps hate queue jumpers....

The trick is to pull left immediately, whilst still under 50km/hr, this then place them in front and a weaker position

Seems business as usual, no screaming, yelling or general objections from the cars around that I noticed as I do this.

When we pull away from the lights though things take a sour turn, in a couple of hundred meters the car that was behind me at the lights catches up to me then starts tail gating me weaving side to side and when I slow down for next lights the car pulls ahead to my left and starts screaming incomprehensibly. (I'm on the left most lane btw...) It would have been nice if the light was red at the next one so I could have filtered through the traffic and left this nonsense behind but unfortunately cars start moving and I slow down behind them. This guy is in this big 4x4 and he's still to the left of me driving erratically while screaming at me.
    Couple of questions;
    1) Were you going slower than the car before the lights?
    2) Were you going slower than the cars after the lights?

God fuck me ! Will change post to,when 'small repairs' are being done to a road and the lollie pop man has a stop /go stick and there are large lines of cars, some of those that actually ride bikes tend to filter to the front while traffic is stopped.

"You like other traffic to overtake you", really ?, sell your fucken bike man and get a scooter.

Why would a bike hold u up if the rider has gone to the front ? Do you hold others up at the lights if you are first to go ?

We differ, myself i would not bother to 'filter to the front at lights' I like the seat of my bike to be under my arse so i wait in the queue. That way I do not have to put up with arrogant cunts opening their door or driving into the side of me ect ect.
