Ah, wrong, I think you need to research more, for a start Gray was not flash in the eye-sight department - like really bad.

Yes - that would be pretty true ... if you want longer range accuracy then the AK is not the best choice .. however while you are trying to get a long range one shot in with whatever the ATS currently use, the AK is spraying bullets at you - with a kill potential well further than it's accuracy potential - good chance that one of them will hit home ... you have to stick your head up to look at the target - and bullets would be zipping by all around you - and maybe into you ... that's the difference between an automatic firing gun and a trigger pull firing gun ..

Either way . the AK is not a good choice for an urban police weapon ... but it is an excellent assault rifle (at least in it's day)

The MP5s the ATS had were fully automatic. As are the AUGs the DF currently have, and they are much better than an AK. Very easy to break down and clean too. And fun to shoot.
    Yeah, nah.

LOL at some of the replies in this thread. Lack of firearms knowledge is very apparent with some of you.

The AUG is gas operated and is due for replacement in 2015. I personally don't like the trigger on it, its plastic and needs to be pulled back slightly harder in Automatic mode to get it fire more than 1 round. Its arse to clean, I know guys that have washed theirs out in the showers to assist in getting all the mud out. It takes atleast and hour to get it up to a high quality standard depending on how dirty it is and how many rounds have been fired through it. It won't jam up if its clean, I have done 5 full mags on full auto and it never skipped a beat. Its a childs weapon, anyone can pick it up and shoot reasonably well.

The AK uses a 7.62x39 and obviously has less range but in my opinion it is a far superior weapon even for its age. Can field strip the cunt in like 5 seconds and it will fire after being submerged in almost anything. The 7.62 has more penetrating power so it can shoot through concrete block walls and it costs like 40c a round.

MP5 is for special forces and has the advantage of using the same 9mm ammunition as a handgun. Therefore you only need to carry one type of ammo instead of 2.

As for the stolen firearms. The barrels will be sawn off most probably and used by one of NZ's many gangs. Aint no science in that haha

You seem to be suggesting that reading internet forums and playing Call of Duty is not a substitute for actual experience. Good grief, who'd have thought.

Also I would like to fire any of the above in full auto mode. Hook me up? Got a drive by you need a hand with?

Haha, trust me. The novelty wears off after the first 10 rounds. Signup for 15 years at any of the 3 forces and you can shoot as much as you want.

Already tried and left one, applied for number 2 a few weeks back

I did quite enjoy Dip Flat even if it was just a lot of firing blanks.
    Yeah, nah.

i think you'll find it's x54 (ie .308) (and please do not start that debate)
the SKS uses x39 also a very fun gun to shoot, but being that it doesn't fire from an open bolt, takes a bit more doing to get that full auto thing happening...

Was. Recently applied to the Army, after 3 years of being a civi. Don't really like any of the trade options in the Airforce.. but don't like being a civi either.

Nearly 8 years Navy for me. Hardly touch small arms but it doesn't worry me. Far to busy cruzing round in a 550 million dollar frigate
