So god damn unbelievably angry! wtd?

Just took my bike to the local AA for a warrant of fitness, been there previously and had a nice chap who also rides do it for me. Today, Ginny gets a check up, Guy needs some help as must have only basic knowledge of bikes. Ok, no problem. Then I go inside and pay etc. While he and another bloke test the brakes or whatever. Go to leave, bike in 1st, kill switch on, rude but whatever. I use the rear brake as I'm slowly exiting the drive and it feels funny? Then I stall. Wtf? Weird... Push on the rear brake again, feels VERY firm and I mean VERYYY. I haven't ridden my bike for 2 to 3 weeks so attribute it to that and didn't for a second think a testing station would mess with my bike and not ask or inform me. Anyway on the short journey home I ascertain that this is wayyyyyyyyy Fucking wrong, to the point it's verging on dangerous, not in itself but because I now don't know how my bike will react when I brake. It's as if it's now stronger than my front brake. Get home, Ring the AA and ask to talk To the guy who did my bike, Ask him did he change it? Yes he did. Now here's what you shouldn't do, Go absolutely ballistic on the phone, Which I did, some swearies in there somewhere.

I want to take this further. They had no right to adjust my brakes and what makes it worse is they didn't even tell me!! I don't care if people think I'm overreacting, but they cant be Allowed to do that. What to do? Who to complain to?

They certainly should've at the very least told you they'd done it.

As far as I'm concerned they have no right to make adjustments to my bike without my permission. It's dramatically different. But you're right, that's the least they could have done.

Yes they should have told you - or they could have failed it, so you would have had to take it somewhere for rectification.

Why did they adjust it? Do you have a large deadzone so you can keep it half pressed down or something? I'm confused as to why stalling it and the subsequent change in strength on the ride home became apparent with the adjustment, or did they fuck up the adjustment so it was always dragging?

Obviously they should have told you, I'm just wondering why they thought it necessary to adjust.

I don't think you're getting my point, I'm not a tard, I can change it. But people should not be modifying someone's vehicle without notifying them. In my opinion it would not have failed on the rear brake but if it did, I would have happily adjusted it on the spot or come back later.

Go back and talk to the manager, they need to be made aware that they have a tard working for them.

I can't remember his exact words but presumably it was something to the effect of he didn't reckon it was good enough. Nothing to do with brake light activation as I was standing there when we tested it and it was fine. I stalled the bike because it was much much stronger than normal and obviously this wasn't expected. Hard to explain. It's like a meer Touch of the rear brake has it stopping very Quickly. If I'd have been in a situation on the way home where I needed to quickly apply my brakes I could have locked up the back wheel and who knows what could have happened. Luckily the ride home is very short so no need to stop and adjust But what if I didn't know any better?

Nothing, Just P for passed. With some ineligible writing underneath the inspector id box and no notes or comments written anywhere.

When you hop on your bike and start to move off, always give your brakes a wee test. Just to be sure they will be there when you need em.
