And beer too, as those broken bottles keep giving me punctures on the push bike.

Why would I be joking? The wheelie bins they provide are way too small to be collected fortnightly so we collect rubbish in those big rubbish bags and take it to the dump when theres enough to warrant getting a small trailer.

I have even given them a couple of bills and the like that have been lying amongst the rubbish, sometimes the rubbish gets moved, sometimes it doesn't. I have never seen anyone in the paper getting prosecuted for it either. A couple of years ago I found a lot of animal guts and other rubbish lying beside the river in town, told the council, a week later it was still there, contacted the local paper and they did a story on it and the offal and other crap vanished the next day. The last couple of times I have contacted the council about rubbish, it has not moved, so I have hauled a few bags and stuff away myself at my own cost. Today however, upon finding 3 rubbish bags dumped down there and a few powerbills and a winz letter, something to do with emergency benefit, heaps of junk food wrappers and diet coke bottles and the like, I snapped and went home and got the car, chucked it in the boot and took it back to where it came from, as in tipped it all over their unkempt lawn. Now my wife thinks I have done wrong, but I think fuck em. Lazy bastards.

Thats me vented anyway, what say you. What would you do. Ignore it......Persever with the council.........React like myself...........Burn their fuckin house down........WHAT???

    Bloody brilliant mate!
The council don't give a fuck about this type of thing. All they do is pocket yer rates, dog rego etc and plan community events.

    Good job there chap

Because you admitted you're part of your own problem, that's almost unheard of in these parts, lol. As for too many soft drink bottles, maybe you could crush them before you put them in the recycle bin? if you aren't already..

I'll happily admit I'm at fault for the amount of rubbish I make and that if I was worried about it I could make less but why should I change my eating and drinking habits to suit the council, fuck 'em.
I do crush bottles but even crushed a 2.25 coke bottle takes up a fair bit of space not to mention all the dog food cans.

I often decline to accept a lot of rubbish at point of sale. Bit difficult with a coke can but all clothing packaging and a lot of other shit gets left on the counter. If they don't like it maybe they'll do the same to their suppliers.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon

Here you can put as much recycling stuff out as you want, not just a wheelie bin. Rubbish, too, I think.

For me, i don't care what the council thinks of my rubbish and or the amount of it, but I do wonder for years and generations to come where is all the rubbish going to go? what about my kids? and their kids and so on and blah blah etc. Don't get me wrong, I am no greeny, I could make even more of an effort to recycle and reduce waste etc but I am content that the effort I am making now, albeit small, will have a cumulative effect over time. You know, with our powers combined, we can save the world!

Ditto, won't take a plastic bag etc. if I don't need it. I do usually get them when I go grocery shopping and try to re use most as kitchen rubbish bags.

A good blast around the forest is just what I needed.
I think we could all do more to preserve the beauty of our planet, myself included. I would hate to think of anywhere in NZ becoming like the city I was born in in the UK. Last time I was in Auckland I went for a stroll down Dominion rd, and It is sad to say I think it is happening already.

It,s your world too...........Dont just sit there.
