    Diesel power!

Well, turns out I'm a bike building machine.

Had half a day up my sleeve today, so I whipped the GT motor out of my bucket, and mounted the GL up. There were of course issues to overcome, the four stroke being twice the height of an MVX250 motor for instance, but it all worked out in the end...

Barr one small thing, (innit always the fucken way?), the carb on the GL comes out at a bit of an angle to the head. The clever bastards at Honda though, must have had other ideas for the same head and when you take off the manifold block, there are two different sets of mounting holes and the spares line up straight to the carb.

But it's mounting straight to the head, with no plastic or rubber between. Is the heat from the head gonna cause me no end of grief? If it is, I will need to make a manifold with a bend, or chop and move a frame rail.

So, in summary. This is the third build thread for the same bike, but I could potentially take it to the track on Sunday and thrash the living shit out of it.

Heat transfer may be a side effect but is likely to be less of a problem than the fuel frothing up from vibration.

Could be fine, could be horrible, only one way to find out.

Extra heat could cause vaporization of the fuel. As posted above though, only one way to find out.

I take the header pipe off, and heat the exhaust valve up with a gas axe.

Speaking of pipes. That'll be this afternoons job, then starting the little fucker up. The GL was running yesterday, so there's no concerns there, other than fuel frothing.

Might just make an inlet manifold out of pipe and plate, with the standard manifold block between it and the carb.

I'll be taking it to Kaitoke this weekend I think.

Big day today. Got it ready for tomorrow though.

Pipe was most of the work, but it looks fuckin spiffy under the seat, and is pretty bloody well built.

I got my arm twisted into doing it that way. Hope it doesn't catch fire, I'd probably just step back and watch it burn.

Make sure you film it and post it up on KB.

    Well, mixed results.

Need to strengthen up the engine mounts, and I'm pushed into fitting the CBR wheels because the sprocket carrier has shit itself on the rear, and the inboard front disk pads are worn out...so replacing the front end completely is the cheaper option.

Good work mate. It just so happens I know a dude who'll look after that BT45 front tyre for you too.

You're welcome to it bro. I'm not pulling it back off the rim though, so you can wrestle it off...Unless you wanna run the bent one.
