The ‘I Like’ option on Facebook? Is that the same as replying to a text with LOL? Basically saying ‘’I have nothing to add and this is the best I can offer at this present point’’?

Does the recipient of these’ I Likes’ have a stockpile of ‘I Likes’? whereby, in say, a years’ time or so, they could consolidate them into a Mega ‘I Like’?
Why is there no ‘ I don’t like’ or maybe a ‘ You’ve got to be fucking Joking’ option?
