Smile Paint job for Yamaha FZR 250?

Hello all, I have a Yamaha FZR 250, its been two years now since I have owned it, its in a good nick mechanically but it looks a bit shabby with the color on it. So I've been wondering around at few different spray painters who could do a decent paint job on the bike, but unfortunately they charge a lot even for just painting the bike in plain white color, I visited one of the local place here in New Plymouth recently and the guys gave me a quote for $1000 to paint it in white..It nearly killed me cos the bike's nearly worth 2 grand or so..So I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to find a place who does a decent job at a reasonable price, Local is preferred but I'm happy to travel to Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Hamilton or any other nearby place to get the job done if some one offers it at a decent price. I have been reading few threads lately on here and it's costing between $300 to $500 max to get a decent paint job done on a bike between 250 to 600 cc.. Many thanks in advance to all who responds.

P.S-I have also attached a picture of the Bike with the current situation ( color )

man, a thousand bucks IS a cheap job for a whole bike. really it just isnt worth it unless you want to tackle it yourself, but to do a decent job with several coats and clear with rattle cans would still cost heaps, so hardly worth doing unless you have the h=proper equipment, or access to it, to do the job yourself.

I suppose for $500 I could get my brother to colour it in with crayons, but I warn you in advance, he isnt very good at staying in the lines - he's a spastic.

I recently got some cracks on the fairings fixed and a complete strip and respray, so even without the repairs I'd say $1000 is a fair price for a good job.

Add up the man hours dissasembling, stripping, and sanding, then assuming you dont buy crappy paint, I'd rather pay $1000 and get a good job than pay $500 for some shonky job

Give the fairings a light sand with some 400 grit sandpaper and then matt black it with some spray cans.

Lol 400 grit would look pretty nasty.

Actually no, do it, I wanna see the final result.

    Thank u everyone.

Thank to all, Yeah I know $1000 is could be the right price for a decent paint job but I have been reading few forums on here where few of us got pretty good paint jobs on their bikes for $250 to $500. Please follow the links below where one guy got paint for his bike done fo $ 250:
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/ar...p/t-54310.html

The 2nd guy got his for $500:
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/ar.../t-148355.html

SO after reading these threads above made me curious as to why not do some research and find someone whoc could do a good job at the right price.

Hey Mossy1200 Bud, could you please tell me where did u get the paint job done on your wonderful bike, The paint on your bike looks mean as, I wouldn't hesitate even for a second to get a paint like that on my bike, Please let me know the name of the place and I could come down to Welly to get it done from there. Thanks in advance

    $1k is decent.
It'd be a fair bit less if you do the prep work yourself. If I had a decent compressor here I'd be happy to do it, but I don't think that's happening any time soon

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    PM automan6

$500 was the price of the paint though.

There was 6 base colours 7 fleck types etc.
Idd say he would charge 2k with labour for the same type of paint job.

Thank u Ducatilover, Mossy 1200 and Rossirep,
@ Mossy1200- Yeah that wud be expensive, I hope i cud give him sum help with the labour work to reduce the overall cost. I cundt pm Automan6 atm as I have recently started using the site ( due to lack of rights ). SO is there anyway you could tell him to contact me or provide me with his email or any other contact info and I cud prolly negotiate a price with him.

@ Rossirep- Yeah bruv ur right but it not worth as I'll be upgrading to a bigger bike in next 6 months as I will have my full license by then, Its a gud bike but as a bike lover we have to ride em all n ive had this since last 2 years so I feel like I'm over riding 250 cc bikes..

Thanks again everyone for ur advise, much appreciate it

P.s _ I humbly request all the regular members to give their opinion on this thread. Ta
