Kevlar jeans are for short rides, I.e. commutes where you are taking bugger all risks so an off is unlikely anyway, so armour is overkill. If you are pushing that hard on the way to work you think you are likely to crash, wear leather.

I disagree. The morning commute is one of the most dangerous times to ride.

I'd much rather wear armor in that environment, for fear of the dreaded sideswipe.

Does anyone wear armour under their jeans all day not on the bike? Or is it something you have to take out when you get there in order to be comfortable walking around?

Yes and no, they're quite comfortable.
