    Should I piss him off?

My boss at work has asked me to do something (work related) that isn't in my job description, he's asked me to do it in the past, and it's a task that will take up to 3 or 4 hours, using meths to wipe clean and redesign the layout of a huge white board that our telemarketing department use to keep targets and agent totals, the board is high up and causes me to get a sore neck and back from the angle I have to stand to clean it, and the meths gives me migranes... (and he knows this)

And on top of that, Tuesday's are one of the busiest days of the week, and I'm looking to be here for at least 11 hours today, just with my normal workload alone...

So I have two options... Don't do it and get in shit or do it and get in shit, as it will delay all my reports and normal work until after noon, he doesn't want me doing it later in the afternoon as the telemarketing team will be here and will need the board...

This is a huge pain in the arse and I know he's gonna throw a mean tantrum either way...

What do you think? Do it and end up leaving at 3pm because my head hurts (resulting in me having to leave my bike at work because I won't be able to ride it if I get a migrane (sp) again) or don't do it and deal with his shitty immature homo attitude all week?

At some point there comes a time in this type of negative employer relationship where you need to stand up and....... go get another job.

I put up with the same type of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" work environment for 4 years at my previous job and it did me no good at all. I am a different person now. My current employer is good, what they want from me is clearly defined, and if I say no to something there is no resulting tantrum. At worst I'll get asked to help organise an alternative.

I'm deadly serious. You are being bullied. Go get another job. Make a real effort to get one too, not just the odd job interview once a month, but actually go home, sit down with your partner and attack online vacancies and the newspaper with the same fervour I know you apply to your work.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

ask him.. why the F%%%K doesn't he do it!!!

if he throws a mental... look at him and laugh!!...
you are there because you want to be... not because he wants you!!! (i suppose that is right..)

why don't the telly markers clean their own mess??

take the lid off the meths... throw up on the floor..(go on you can make yourself sick).. walk out leaving the mess, saying that the meths made you do it ....then see if you get asked to do it again..

pesonaly if i am asked to do something outside the cantract that would make me ill.. i would say sorry but i will not be doing that...

go to his boss and tell them the problem... if there is no one higher, go to one of those lawyers that deal with employment issuses

    good luck

    tell him to get F##Ked

Do some of it and go home sick before the migraine hits. Remind him before you start that the fumes will give you a migraine as well.

    Thanks all...

He's a twat, I've been working with him for nearly 3 years now, and he's an arrogant self centred twat at the best of times. Not to mention a P head. He shows up late everyday, leaves early, takes 2 hour lunch breaks, give all his work to me to do and gets all the credit and the nice big pay check.

We had a fight about this yesterday... and I thought we had it resolved until I came in this morning and there was a note on my desk "don't forget to do the board BEFORE the TM's start" grrrr

*is thinking about taking my time on the board, and then... oh I feel it coming on now... my head hurts... oh no... I might have to leave early*

As for the new job thing... I only have Admin experience, and only at this company... and given that I work 50-60+ hours a week (did over 60 hours last week), I'd need a job with a high pay rate on 40 hours a week, or a medium payrate for 50 hours a week... not the easiest type of hours to look for...

*has been looking activley for about 3 weeks now*

If this 'clean & redesign' thing is not part of your normal job & it is not covered by some provision in your written contract (I assume you have one) then you are not obliged to do it. Some people desperately deserve to have their expectations brought back to earth with a crash. Refuse to do this task & take the employer to Employment Court if it turns nasty. That is what the Court is for. And then get another job. There are plenty out there and you are the only one setting a limit on yourself in that respect.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I take it he is not the main peanut in the packet ie there is someone more senior cause if that is the case I will go and have a word with his boss but get your story straight and on paper so that when you do speak to his boss it does not look like you are just sucking things out of your thumb but that you have put carefull thought into it.

If its not the case you can also go to him and say I have to do this this and this which one of these is more important and follow his priorities but come home time you are out of there. Its going to be hard but like someone has said they need you as much as you need them. Its called give and take and you are just giving at the moment.

My contract sucks... In my job decription they have a "all work that helps with the flow of the department" part, and anything that I don't want to do, under my bosses eyes falls under that catagory and he says thats why I have to do them... which is bullshit...

He's the marketing manager, and his boss is the marketing director... I've gone over his head before, and then he treats me like shit for a week or so and makes my life hell...

Because he is in late everyday (meant to start at 9 and shows up after 10.30 everyday). I'll talk to the Marketing Director before he gets in... good idea about writting it down... then it won't look like I'm just bitching and moaning... and the thing that pisses me off, is that we have 3 Team Leaders and 5 team captains... it's their board they should do it... but my boss doesn't want them away from thier teams...

*is in a bad mood now*

the weather out is perfect... *wants to go for a ride... which reminds me I need to order my new chain and sprockets...*

I need to stand on a chair and lean over the stereo (sp), because they don't want me moving the stereo because then they'll have no music to listen to while they sit in thier offices and do sweet fuck all
