Well a cop finally turned up today.

He explained the delay in response. In the game of cops and robbers they are down 5 to 20; meaning they face around 20 burglaries a day in this area and only have the resources to cover 5 a day. So guess who's winning the game??

I also believe that crime rates are at an unprecedented high, really pathetic in a country where people have the dole, supermarkets, McDonalds, factory labour option and don't have to steal to pay for the bare essentials.

It really is sad that a country like this world famous for it's peace and hospitality is facing such a rise in crime rates.

And yeah we don't have an alarm....... had all sorts of stuff in other countries (pro trained guard dogs, blah, blah) and guess we kinda got too cynical. The door wasn't unlocked though, nor any other entrance. They used a crowbar to force the door open and get past two sturdy dead bolts.
F*ckers took the only thing in my room of any value a bag- with my degree, two university diplomas, various merit certificates, my passport and recommendation letters - I was searching for jobs recently and had all my documents kept in a smart black bag - guess they went for the bag and didn't have time to empty it . Luckily all my qualifications are local, but the recommendation letters were all from people who have since moved to different places - so thats a loss.......... grrrr

Truely, it was unbelievable, form after form, and some of them a total wankfest. Forms about this and forms about that, it would have taken hours. And hardly any of it seemed to my lay eye to be worth a shit

EDIT. You sort of think of cops as chasing villains, grabbing same , delivering them to the cop shop and saying " Caught this little shit doing xxxx ", then heading back out onto the streets to catch the next villain, while said little shit gets processed. But it's not like that at all.
The forms are bloody endless and you have to repeat the same information over and over on this form and that form. It is crazy, if the police were a business they would go broke in a day through inefficient administration.

Making an arrest or processing a drunk driver can take a cop off the street for a couple of hours easily, often longer. By the time you interview & process the prisoner, take care of exhibits, interview witnesses and victims and complete the necessary paper work your 10 hour shift has turned in to 12 hours. Then of course there is a heap more paper work and admin as a case goes through the stages of the court sytem.

YET THEY HAVE TIME IF SOMEONE STEALS CHEWING GUM FROM FOODTOWN.
COPS HAVE GOT TO PRIOROTIZE AND SAY TO CORPORATES THAT THEY CAN AFFORD TO TAKE CARE OF IT THEMSELVES LIKE THERE OWN SECURITY AND LEGAL ACTION

Don't forget that you can claim your 7 dollar meal allowance for that overtime though!

In Auckland quite alot of the frontline cops are forced to come in on their days off and work unpaid, just to keep up with the paperwork. Half the time they can't even get a meal/toilet break while on duty, let alone sit at a computer and type out a file. Then they will get abused by the general public for taking so long to attend a burglary etc.

Then they wonder why we have such a bad turnover rate.

Meanwhile, Wobbie and Georgie say you don't need more staff. Have you thought about a strike or a coup de tat (preferably bloody)?

Give each of them full riot gear and an RPG - I think they'd put a fair sized dent in it...

Shes probably hoping on luring a few Iraqi Police here, I think they are paid slightly less than N.Z cops.
