An 84-year-old driver who killed a motorcyclist as he drove the wrong way on a dual carriageway has been given a suspended six-month jail sentence.
Michael Lake died when he was hit head-on by Hulbert on the A47 Swaffham bypass. Hulbert had made a U-turn onto the carriageway after turning onto it by accident. He thought it had reverted to a single lane, when in fact he was driving the wrong way down the outside lane.
Judge Paul Downes said "You were not driving recklessly or badly but your confusion and momentary mistake had very serious consequences for the young man on the motorcycle. Whatever I do today can never be enough for his family and can't bring him back."
Hulbert was banned from driving for life and ordered to pay costs of £866.
