Its all good down this way Muzz.....catching up on jobs around the place over winter. the bees'll start buzzing soon.
Had the 4hundy apart doing the swingarm etc & I have just done the valve clearances which was a first for me.....your posts on TT were helpful.
Put a Motoz hybrid on it, but the Jury is still out to lunch about that choice....
Yeah I liked the look of the disk one too, but she who must be obeyed has deemed it that I must fix up the TLR & Spada before I go getting another one....

I am surprised that XL the pumper carb is that much worse if I remember rightly the XL was better and smoother down low but lost about 3hp up top, i always presume that was the cam but maybe not ?

Neither of the XL carbs are pumpers. Think that only the 250's had them?
Just swapped the XR carb to an XL today,, goes considerably better.
could probably bore the 2 XL carbs out, but would rather track down XRcarbs.

different markets seem to have different carbs. possibly due to the (then) new Californian Emmision Rules??
one of your links shows a twinshock but states 32mmCV carb, the other is an '83 model (which also sported a weird reed valve on the inlet side. )
clymer/Haines often show different stuff too,,
    All I know is I want 2 roundslide 36mm non-pump XR500 carbs.

I wonder if it might be easier to get something from another bike or even the performance carbs that whites brothers used to sell 36 & 38mm Mikuni's which should not be to hard to get a hold of ?
