different markets seem to have different carbs. possibly due to the (then) new Californian Emmision Rules??
one of your links shows a twinshock but states 32mmCV carb, the other is an '83 model (which also sported a weird reed valve on the inlet side. )
clymer/Haines often show different stuff too,,
    All I know is I want 2 roundslide 36mm non-pump XR500 carbs.
    I'm fairly sure the 90's xr400 carbie is a 36mm roundslide
non pump carb, should be readily available

Cheers thanks for your reply Muzz i was after a measurement on a part that i think was only on the 81-82 engine.
looking at the parts fiche for the 79-8-0 its seems like a different setup.

Never seen one that still had reedblock still in it. Commonly biffed before they fell apart and went through the mill...

id would have just pulled out the SS reeds and left the rest the flow would be abysmal with a huge cavity and no reed or spacer. looking up old parts number for boyseen fiberglass reeds for a later IT175 should fit.

Only really interested to see exactly what the bolt spacing to see if its the same as a CR125 (which i suspect it is) plus the intake length. the rest is idle curiosity.
But the stuffer looks far superior to the CR /RS of the era

if i had an XR or a XL 250 or 500 of that era i would be buying some R&D or similar valve springs as Honda have delisted them along with some other top bits.
there is still some list OEM on ebay but buggar all.
