    Nordie stop it please

Dino, got my eye on the second one but think he wants to much for its condition (and unsure if could ride one that wasn't a minters as my XR memories are of brand spanker's)

like this one that I'm not telling anyone where it is (think it has about 8000miles on it from new )

...ok, not a 500 but i took my son for his first road/gravel/adv ride on saturday on a borowed off a mate xr250A yeahhhh!!!! was a 160km round trip from taradale up to the mangatutu hot springs. he enjoyed the ride and only put the xr over a bank once no damage done as the big clumps of grass made for a soft landing! gotta say it was dead cool having my teenage son out on an old twinshocker..although he reckons the brakes are a bit grim!
low seat height made it an ideal learner adv machine, although the lad has a decent amount of trailriding experience albeit on smaller xr100 and xr200's
im kinda hoping he'll be keen for more riding, but time will tell...he's xbox generation afterall

Back in the day a few of my mates had the 250's (think they were scared of the 500's) but they went really well and im pretty sure I saw 150kph on one on a favourable day

Still remember that brat brat sound they used to make

Nah mate, stock front wheel, actually think could have been 155 but didn't want to exaggerate

I'm pretty sure a tail wind, slip streaming a 5hundy, higher road gearing, an after market pipe and a nice loose engine helped a little though

We promptly reduced it to a wreck doing all sorts of dumb stuff (as you do) Fortunately every 2nd farmer in the area seemed to have a broken down XL175 in the back of the shed we could use for parts to keep it going.

They were great wee bikes. Looked great & were tough. Though not as easy to kick over (especially when heading up hill) as my orange XL175. My '79 XR185, never came with a key ignition so I had to get one wired in after getting sick of padlocking the bike all the time!
Looking forward to seeing your scanned pics Clint . No pressure
