Thanks Muzz,for some reason I had it in my head that seeing it runs a separate oil tank that it was a dry sump.
Will soak as advised-thanks again.

Dry sump yes, but wet clutch. The idea is, it just stores the oil in the frame rather than the bottom of the engine for better oil cooling and more oil capacity without making the engine bulkier. Possibly less windage as well.

Can anyone tell me if twinshock XR250/500's had High and low beam headlights?
Did they even have a headlight on/off switch?

Nice one, man there aint much to the old Xr's compared to now days, no wonder they went like cut cats, pretty much even with a DR750 with a pipe when I drag raced my mates which was stock, and the thing felt like a 750 with all the torque and no weight

You might be better off buying one off Ebay likely $250-300NZD landed

There actually was one with new valves and guides last month for 200NZD landed for a 82 model
