Weedons Ross Road- down past West Melton Airfield-over the stop bank. The Cunterbury Regional council have been 'nice' enough to give us two blocks, one is down river from Weedons Ross and goes down to Mcleans Island-straight forward flowing one way single track.
Up river side there is a big tree block single trail which is great. Quite flowing but technical enough to be interesting. Also in that area is the river bank/flood plain which contains a maze of excellent technical single track. The only problem with the river bank is that it is so hard to learn what goes where! I have done it a fair bit, always following someone who knows and I just cant remember it. Alzeimers anyone?
If you stray further upstream out of the legal boundaries and avoid the Rangers, there is a good tree block above the old Willows site[RIP-been taken over by mountain bikers and Motorhomes ffs!] leading on to a block of fun flowing single trail ending at the irrigation intake where the CNUTs took down the bridge. However the intake channel is fordable usually-leading to some great tree block single trail and then onto the river roads all the way up to the Waimak Gorge, but that's more adventure bike territory.
If you feel up to it, we will be out there tomorrow at Ten. We realize you would have to slow down for us but thems the breaks....

do you start by riding back to the stop bank and heading off into the trees on the right ? we used to ride that quite often always to the intake and back and then down to McLeans and back

We're doing the other side tomorrow starting about 12.30 as I have work until 12

How about doing the Ashley the following weekend ?

Todays ride didn't end as well as it could have, after showing everyone the obvious superiority of the Mighty IT200 it appears the pulsar coil has died, I hear Dave has some experience rewinding things, does anyone have his address ?

Hadn't done this track before, ridden past it a few times without knowing it was there though

I imagine Ashley will be out now the mighty IT has an issue. Let me know if it is still on and I will see if the boys are keen. VERY impressed with the tow Beta, it hardly noticed the load on the back as it swept past that truck.
Does that new track you found branch off the main track in the forest? Approx where about?
