Weedons Ross Road- down past West Melton Airfield-over the stop bank. The Cunterbury Regional council have been 'nice' enough to give us two blocks, one is down river from Weedons Ross and goes down to Mcleans Island-straight forward flowing one way single track.
Up river side there is a big tree block single trail which is great. Quite flowing but technical enough to be interesting. Also in that area is the river bank/flood plain which contains a maze of excellent technical single track. The only problem with the river bank is that it is so hard to learn what goes where! I have done it a fair bit, always following someone who knows and I just cant remember it. Alzeimers anyone?
If you stray further upstream out of the legal boundaries and avoid the Rangers, there is a good tree block above the old Willows site[RIP-been taken over by mountain bikers and Motorhomes ffs!] leading on to a block of fun flowing single trail ending at the irrigation intake where the CNUTs took down the bridge. However the intake channel is fordable usually-leading to some great tree block single trail and then onto the river roads all the way up to the Waimak Gorge, but that's more adventure bike territory.
If you feel up to it, we will be out there tomorrow at Ten. We realize you would have to slow down for us but thems the breaks....
