Its been a wet year with a few rides cancelled 😣
If it's the same as the last one there I did it would have made some of the big up hill climbs interesting

I haven't done Conway hills ride, some people who've done it say it's fairly ordinary, not that great. But I reckon the Conway coast ride is awesome.

It's 90% farm track and easy riding, I probably wouldn't drive that far for it

That's about what I heard. I also agree about travelling that far, unless it's a good one.

I really enjoyed it, but that reflects my riding ability! I agree about the up hills so I am pleased it has been postponed.

I see on the Myrides website there is an organised Trailride in the Mendip Hills planned for Aug 6th

Having newly rediscovered the joy of riding in the dirt, I'm thinking this might be a nice thing to do.
I'm not looking for anything terribly challenging just a fun day out.

Minimum requirements are listed as Helmet, Boots and spark arrestor.
Is there a Standard the helmet needs to meet or is it enough that you have one?
Mine is a 5 yr old Bell so I'd hope its OK.

There is also mention of scrutineering.
I assume that is a quick look over to ensure every thing is tight and safe.
Is there anything specific I need to ensure is done?

Prolly all sounds like dumb questions but it would be 35 yrs since I entered any sort of organised bike event and I don't want to drive a couple of hours and have hassles.

Also, what would people suggest carrying in terms of basic tools on the bike?
Or is that a bit overkill for a trail ride?

    Appreciate any (good) advice.

    Cheers

Your Helmet will be fine, mines even older

Only scrutineering check is spark arrestor

I carry a few spanners, screwdrivers pliers, spare plug (two stroke), guy I ride with brings a tow strap

I am planning on doing that ride, Yellow RMX250 Suzuki with #83 on it, come say hello

    Will do.
I've got an old modified XR200A - spot the XR250R plastic tank!

Thanks so much for the reply

Well that's my first organised trail ride under my belt.
    Had a throughly enjoyable day!

Everything is pretty well organised and quite low key. The school kids up-sold me on the sticky buns and everyone in the paddock was friendly and helpful.
A nice warm day helps of course!
I particularly like the way the course had the option to cater for a range of abilities

If you're ummming and ahhhing about doing one of these I'd say go for it.

Good loop, I had a few sit downs in the mud, strangely enough riding my friends IT200 I crashed once, hop back on my own bike and went down twice plus got stuck

I also lifted a bike off a guy sitting in a puddle in one of the bogs as he was stuck under it

Must be bad when it's too muddy for trail bikes, bugger
Though we need to look after the farmers land, be shit if all we have is weedons.
Looking like I'll be doing my return at Murry Downs trail ride. Sure is tough not being allowed to do anything.
You got time to get the IT going.

Piston is being ordered this week

Rode one I sold my friend for 90% of one lap of Mendip, it's more capable than I remember

I read that post. I thought that might have inspired you to get it going again. You had mentioned way back how you thought it was one of the best bikes you had owned.
