Whinging bloody tourists, moaning about the Earnslaw

Just watching the midday news and bloody tourists moaning about the amount of smoke the Earnslaw pumps out.....christ they should be appreciative to be able to see such a rare thing; doesn't stop the @#*s blasting around in jet boats that pump carbon monoxide straight into the water system

Apparently they are oblivious to the amount of container ships pouring into LA ports... daily

Oh yes, the huge amount of pollution a small steam boat makes lol. I bet those same cunts complaining drive around in a fucking landrover on the way to work

As for the jet boat operator, hello pot

Easy for them to forget that it was the Earnslaw that made Queenstown an iconic destination way way before adventure tourism.

The old hag on the news bleating about should F-off back to her Florida retirement village ...probably older the Earnslaw anyhow

The Coleslaw is allowed to do that, it's a heritage steam boat. It has permits. Perhaps rowing boats should be provided for the whingers who want to get across the lake to Walter Peak Station in environmental safety?

I'll add my to the rest of them.

Probably adds up to a small fraction of the emissions from the tour buses sitting idling at the kerb at the same time.....

If the ship has been belching out black smoke for 100+ years, then why isn't the wonderful scenery the tourists still come to see, been coated with soot etc.

I dearsay, some genius will come up with an electric system to drive the Earnslaw and have " cutesy " imitation black smoke that is non pollutant to appease the sanctimonious blue haired farts from Florida.

Can't belive that someone who lives in or near Queerstown could actually see any point in complaining about the Earnslaw. Makes a bit of smoke, wow! Get over your poor miserable lives and go find something serious to complain about, please.
Worse some sandal wearing tree hugging greeny will make it an item of interest at parliaments next sitting and POOF ( Oh wait theres another one wanting the reins) the good ol Earnslaw will be toast.
Wankers haven't got proper lives and don't have to worry about the mundane like having or finding a proper job, raising their kids ( they don't have them, this sort)the usual shgit that the ret of us deal with day in and day out.
Fuck Em, let the Earnie belch as much smoke as she wants, she's old enough and earned the right.

    yeah nah mabey.
I can't help think that there could be a compromise somewhere. If I farted in your face every morning its not that amazing - but if I farted in your face randomly one a year you would be surprised, amazed, perhaps even inspired.

Having been on the old girl more than once - I think there is a place for her. But at burning 1 ton of coal an hour, that place could be say 3 times a week.......and a fun "lets go check out the good old steamer". Not as an actual form of transport - more an adventure.

Kinda like what motat do with their various steam tractor engines. Felt really special to go see them fired up. When I was in Queenstown last xmas wife asked me about Earnslaw - "What's that? Should we go for a trip?"
"Nah just some old steamship, we can look at it tomorrow"

I swear part of my childhood died then - I felt really stink that I didn't care about her anymore. But think about it - when you were last there - did you go for a ride? Or even care that it was running? Be honest now.

I mean who gave a shit about the Kingston flyer? Did you go on it last time your were there?

Not as an actual form of transport - more an adventure.how do you think they pay for the up keep and what do they pay their staff with if their trips are limited?

Just as well they didn't visit Rottenrua, might want to stick a million ton concrete cap on the place. Wonder if they are aware of Merckas stance on the Kyoto Protocol.

I bet the planes taking the tourists to NZ belched more pollution into the sky than the Earnslaw did...

I plan trips south around the times I can stop and smell that smell.

It's the smell of my childhood.
