Get a bigger phone....
I set a time to depart etc, and generally make it 1/2 an hour before the actual time I would like to see the days ride begin, given that there is 24 people on different time zones to organise. A few 'out of the ordinary' happenings and things need a rejig ...it's a work in progressBut certainly something to work on. We did however, arrive at food place when we said we would which was a good thing, except I was 3 minutes late to Pukinui from the Cape

Lol, minor technicality. "We" were riding. Juniper can't be classed as being in the early pillion stages sack of spuds any more.
Possibly unintentional and not any one person, but being blocked from being in the spirited group because of being a pillion pair on an older bike (or whatever the reason) put a damper on the first day and part of the second day.
Admittedly being left behind on day three was partly our own problem, because we take longer to gear up than anyone else (e.g. vasaline required to seal earplugs, which don't always seal the first time).
Perhaps the Lead could know who intends to be in their group, and confirm all present at the first decision-point intersection? Again I take some responsibility, as I've done this route before and I have the memory of a goldfish.
Sorry don't like giving even positive criticism, as the weekend had so many absolutely awesome momentsand only the negative comments get remembered.
I'd rather be sorry for something I've done, than for something I didn't do.
Prior warning is attempted and is the best that we can offer on road conditions Jason, going up there Labour weekend was all part of that. Thank you guys very much for dropping of the flax purchase's yesterday also, much appreciated. And good on you for wanting to get back there soon. Nari would just love that, get room 8 if you can.
Communication with the group leader (not the ride organiser) is paramount. I think form memory, a Taupo ride we did a couple of years ago, one group leader left the camp without two of his riders, wasn't until we were gassing up for the day ahead, that it was picked up onBut I need to know these things though Brian, it's a bloody difficult thing to organise at times. I am a real stickler for time management as Anne will attest to
Before I leave with my group, I tell them all what is happening and who I want where etc. And yes, even I have got lost on occasion, we have taken the ''scenic route'' before today and part of that was my fault, the other part was group leader on that day, which was not me, I handed it over to someone else, my mistake, wont happen again
The ride maps were posted on page 3 for anyone wanting to load them onto a GPS/Phone? I post them for everyone to look at and at least get a vague idea of where we're going. Doesn't always work out that way though.
Carmel's new man and is four days of riding experience? he rode extremely well after meeting up with him at Kerikeri through to Mangatapere.
Anytime Tim that you want ride with us you're welcome to.
Thanks Doug, no thanks to those f*ckers who were tailgating you after we left the Bridge stop...f*ckers.
I'd really like to see it at some stage, and just to clarify what I said at Mangawhai Simon, what I meant was thanks for letting me go in front of you up the stream...sometimes I open my mouth just long enough to take my foot out.
Yeah I gave up on my phone after it told me we were in the middle of the ocean for most of Friday afternoon. Wish I'd studied the maps properly, had no idea where we were on Sunday - if Darryl hadn't picked the turn off after we lost sight of the group would have missed out on the Bridges run. But I like the way everything is a bit flexible, in case people want to go off and do their own thing for a bit.
4 days?? I was impressed enough with Darryl's 4 months.
The photos are great! Must lean more into corners...did scrape my boot once though.
Moe: Well, I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I...I can't compete with that stuff.- The Simpsons
Yesterday, it ended up that only two people knew the route to be taken to Mangawhai. Myself and Mark Waters which is why I decided on two groups only. I doubt the TECS knew where to go?
That was part of the rejig on Sunday morning... ''ok everyone not in my group go now''
When leaving Kerikeri I put the slowest rider behind me and kept him in sight the whole way.
I don't remember anyone being blocked from the first group. On the first day I stuck to the second group because the first one was very large already. Maybe it is better to have several "spirited groups" of smaller sizes (four would be optimum in my opinion)? Again, not everyone actually realises how fast the two of you can go in the twisties while two up. I certainly didn't until I witnessed it.
That was mostly my fault as I was TEC. Sorry. I was under the impression that Mike (Z1000) and you two are going in a different group, as groups were chopped and changed on the way back.
I bet some people would be very interested indeed.![]()
Cras ingens iterabimus aequor.
Now see, this is what it is all about. I cant take too much credit here, Mark puts an enormous amount of time into organising our rides, I kind of tag along really.
Thank you to everyone for making the weekend away so cool, and thanks to Maha for organising another really wonderful weekend trip for us.
What is a puncture, a bulging radiator hose and a few missed turns against a really lovely weekend away?
