Thanks for organising the ride Mark (and Anne ) Was a great ride up. Shame I couldn't make it up to the Cape or on the Bridges ride , but there will be other times

Yes...there was a "spirited group" but by no means fast! It was a more experienced group that wanted a nice cruise. You outlined it from the start...No Ego's or Heroes!

I may have to revert back to sorting the groups perhaps?
The way you did the groups worked well Mark As you mentioned the 2nd group was only minutes behind us anyway, so wasn't fast. If it was fast I wouldn't be in the group

Lanky is right, people seem to be forgetting that this is an L's Angels ride, not the Thursday Night Licence Loser ride!!

    Fantastic job Mark

All true Beks, the ride is really relaxed and I have no qualms with what anyone does, so long as it doesn't have an impact on others.

These rides have always been about the 'getting there' with the newer riders in mind, and it will remain that way. Some may have out grown what we are about and that is fine, we always get the numbers.
There will always be a bit of fucking around just because of the pure numbers involved. Look at the Hauhora Pub lunch issue in 2011?
I improved that on later trips by getting people to order when they get there, and not to wait till everyone is there.

If the conditions don't suit anyone, go do your own thing. I will attempt/try to improve where I can but as I said earlier, we got to the lunch stops at the times arranged, which is a big thing for me.
Those four bullet points you quoted are gospel.

Yep, that was it. "No biggie" sums it up.
As my gut told me, I shouldn't have responded to the invitation to suggest improvements. Like you say, Doogle had some good feedback. I'm aware that it's an L ride, and congratulate you on running these L rides so well.
Let's get back to the positive stuff about the trip!
I'd rather be sorry for something I've done, than for something I didn't do.

Always a lot of positives Brian and mainly that's thanks to the people that turn up. The extras on this ride were adopted very well by the people who took advantage of the great weather, the beach/the Muka's/the Matarui loop etc.

I felt so sorry for you, you really looked dreadful on Saturday morning. It was lovely to see a bit of spark back Sunday, but you looked well under par all the same.

    90 mile beach video

I've just done a quick edit to remove about 25 minutes of sky and sand. This is what the red rag was for on my screen...that and a bit of tape and a compact camera. Impressed with the result. Thanks to Mark for taking us out and the sound advice.

Awesome thanks for that Simon, reminds me what a great day it was. Bloody good job of improvisation too .

We thought that cleared up before lunch was over, not long after a trip to Kaitaia Hospital (to get it checked) was mentioned?

Nope. After washing it just down from the cape we think it came out. Washing it after lunch realised it was still a scratch. Still hurt like mad but it was clean and the eye washes and heals itself quite quickly.
Did really consider a trip to the hosp but I really hate hospitals.
I'd rather Take a concrete pill (along with some painkillers lol) and keep riding
Had it been still bad and not just sore when I got home then I would have gotten it checked out then.

If you must know Doc checked it out on Thursday and said it had healed quite well.
