Once a race is finished, organise flaggies quicker.
I am an office worker and not used to standing all day. next meet, you might well find the starting helper waiting till all the flag points are filled, and me walking off leaving the red flag till Cully removes it, or maybe we'll go have a cup of tea or something at that point.

whilst it is lovely that you get to have a chat, a lie down, a toilet break, I DO NOT. It is better with two of us on the start, but I also can think of better things to do with my time, than hang around waiting.

basically, sort your shit out and let's ALL have fun, and not make it hard work to get through the day. Cully and the rest aren't being paid to be there, we enjoy it for the most part, but it's the same old story every damned meeting.

Last race of the day, car parks are empty, we struggle to find flaggies. Your race might be over, but without the guys and gals who flagged your races, they would not happen. thanks to those few who are brilliant, we appreciate it, but are getting fed up with the same people always flagging and others not doing their bit.

How about some sort of roster and if your name is on it and you don't provide a flaggie or organize a roster trade with someone then you don't race.

It might well be coming to that, but no trading. Your turn is your turn.

I just don't get why it's so damned hard, it's part if the reason I am not riding any more, I got fed up with having to always flag, as others do not take their turn.

I got very close to just walking off the other meet when Cully had had to leave early and sometimes think that is the only way the racers might figure out that while they need us to race, we don't NEED to be there.

each racer should only have to flag a couple of races a day, but often you will see some flagging most of the races they are not in. they don't necessarily mind, and it's actually a great viewpoint to learn and watch, but it seems like a few are carrying the rest.

flagging is not hard, you look at the part to track between you and the next flag point I.e. where the bikes are going (not where they have been) and hold up the yellow flag if anything happens between there. A stationary flag means caution, there is something not right. A waved flag means there is something on the track. NO PASSING until you have gone past the next clear flag point.

I enjoyed the flagging the odd race in a day, but did not feel the need to stand out there all the time.

It shouldn't be this hard, and is going through a worse stage, which is part of the reason I am turning up to help with the race starts, so Cully can go yell and we can get the meetings finished in daylight.

ah well, if it gets worse, I will just not bother and carry on with things I really enjoy doing.

especially their first two races yesterday lol. I try and get things that need doing while they hit first corner (I hate watching it) and got caught out both times as I stood back up, look over the fence to see how it's going, who's in the lead, who's last and where my husband is. Just caught the last part of the carnage, and then trying to figure out who was affected. Helped Rick's cause lol

I was thinking we should rotate who's got the last race, and just cancel it each meet, soon we won't have to turn up as we have less and less races and racers to contend with hahahaha (bitch mode is on)

Hey guys, I will make sure I am atleast flag marshalling for one classes race each round. I try my best to get the one 2 races before my class, but if you wish to allocate a plag hut to me I would be happy to be out there all day to save the effort of looking for people. (bar my races ofcourse)

Hi Dutchee, I to get frustrated with others not doing there bit flagging. I flagged 4 races on Sun & I walk out as soon as the other race finishes as i get the nearest point to the pits , the last 2 meetings I have also taken a table back up to the clubrooms afterwards but this week I shot of straight after my last race as I wanted to watch Sanddown V8s ( sorry ) Next meeting is Bathurst weekend so I want to leave early, so I hope we get riders brief happening on time & everyone hurrying up & getting out to marshell ( I could name some people I have never seen out there yet others doing more than there share ) Chris

Darren M, Mel, Brian, Kamil, Craig V, G Hassan, Olsons, Chris L, Gav and Julie, Karl M, Henk, Andrew W, Fiona and Matt, Will, Warwick and Josh, Brenton (unless he's working in the side car), Helene and Dean, Harrison, Boothy, B grade Tim, Rick, John S, and I'm thinking there are a couple others that are obvious, but can't think who. - I am a shocker with names sometimes. Adding in names as I think of them, but still not complete.


Chris, your post is exactly how I feel, others not doing their bit, and it makes it less fun for those of us who do. It is a part of why I have stopped riding, but enjoy coming to help Cully and hope to get over my negatives and start riding for fun again. I do not feel the need to help clean up at the end of the day, as I do plenty if that when I am riding, and as I'm only coming to help, feel now it's time to sit for a bit and have a bit of a chat to friends - unless I have to race off to go cook dinner - but I try to organise something easy for race nights.

I am definitely not having a dig at those who help make things run smoothly, just trying to get some to think about how they can help.

as for carrying tables, I watched Mel yesterday struggling, and remember doing that all too often.

I did get tempted at one stage to just go and wave a flag at the sweeper box just to get things moving, but that is not why I turn up, and decided not to

I figure once everyone is on the grid, revving their engines, waiting for us to start the race, might be a good time to have a toilet break.

BTW, Mel and Brian shouldn't need ti be flagging - they also do sign on and help with the timing, as well as re-enact George and Mildred lol

I flag to be closer to the riders I am in awe of and maybe learn something from them.
We have way more riders than fag marshals needed. Could you copy the list of riders and put a copy in each fag hut. You tick your name off each time you flag. If you dont flag for a set number of meetings you attend , you don't race.
Just put pads in the huts and we could sign them. Simple
When your bike has shit itself it can be hard to get out but surely one meeting in three you could do it.
A few do a lot of work to run the meetings and behind the scenes they could exempt.
