    Scooter Club

So I just found this webpage. I am in my 40's, have a scooter (50cc one) and wondering if there is anyone who has a scooter club going for the non italian kind or if there is anyone or several up for weekend rides around Auckland. I am city side of the bridge so I guess you guys would have to be too .

Are scooters not allowed over the bridge now?

Something about it being part of the motorway system... OK, before some smartie pants points out - the motorway system can be the biggest parking lot in the country...

In the olden days - the days of the Bridge Authority and toll booths - the authority would close the bridge to all two-wheeled vehicles due to wind gusts.

Pooks, I think there's been a thread about scooter rides in the Auckland area, sometime earlier in the year. Enjoy your riding from another scooter and bike rider.

Bummer, I used to scoot across there on a CB50, but that was in the early 80s. Make a day of it then and go through Greenhithe.

Greenhithe - used to be accessible via 'open road' once beyond Hobsonville, now alas a motorway only. So for the littlies, it's via Riverhead and Coatesville...

Bugger that, you would have to take a sleeping bag and tent.

Not quite - some very nice cafes to stop at - it's not like going into "Injun Country" south of the Bombays!

    Here speaks a Rangitoto Yank.

Wasnt many places to stop back in the 80s, except the pub in riverhead, and I wouldn't of ridden a scooter there back then. I did ride the cb50 from Browns Bay to Whangaparoa, then out to Kaukapakapa and back to the shore with my brother on his FA 50.But we took the whole weekend and slept on the side of the road at the back of the riverhead forest.

49ers down Deep South have social gatherings on "scooters" but we ride them off legal roads where possible, too dangerous on public roads.

You were an adventurous pair - venturing out on the open road on CB50 and FA50 - those were the days... sigh...

About 1970, I rode my V50 Yamaha stepthrough from Putaruru-Tga- Whakatane and back to Putaruru in one day. My mate Ken rode his Fs 50 with me.

The things you do when young and stupid Now that I'm old and stupid, not much has changed. Bring your scooter down to Thames on the 21st July when I'm riding my scooter around the Coro loop.
