Because I can tell you with 100% certainty it was rod failure in my motors that made them explode. The previous couple were so mangled I was having trouble deciphering if it dropped a valve grenading the rod or the other way around but this latest one the rod is split in the same place however the head is completely intact; not even a bent valve. So it kinda concludes my suspicion the rods are failing. There is zero signs of detonation on the piston tops and besides that it failed on a neutral rev after I'd warmed it up this time and was just messing around, I'd only expect detonation under load. It seems like tensional stresses causing failure, makes sense it's always at revs.
So given all this does anyone know if the rods are surface hardened in any way? Because I'm tempted to polish, balance and shot peen a set. Make sure all marking is parallel to to the load axis and try minimize my chances of crack propagation. Cause I'm running out of ideas to fix the fucking thing.
