I always used a 19" on the front of my KX500's road racing 'em. Felt nicer to me than a 17

Loads of trail on dirt bikes, I wonder if it wasn't just a case of too much feed back? Not sure I'm making that clear. Sort of, feeling every single thing the front wheel is doing and being conscious of it.

Last I saw in BIKE Phil Read was still doing the occasional race meeting. His diary still mentions events but whether it's for racing or just appearance as a personality I don't know.

Was more so they just felt a lil nervous compared to the 19. Mind you...I did nothing to 'em other than front wheel, brakes and gearing. Never fucked about with anything else.

The contact patch is slightly bigger on todays tyres give or take and the bigger the dia of the tyre means that patch hits the road less times that a smaller dia tyre

Also the bigger the dia the harder it is to change direction , OR be delfected ...esp with stiff suspension

Ive ridden them old Dukes and they are crap in the twisties , they prefer long sweepers ,

Would love to have got the telemetry on mikes bike..or any of them to be honest

    Psychology part 2?

Marquez on "that" save. "When I was on the floor I open the gas, close my eyes
and when I stay on I say thank you very much."

I like that analysis way better than any of the 'in depth' ones around the net!

So your bar end is grinding along the ground, your shoulder and arse as well, the steerings gone limp because the fronts off the ground, your at 68 degrees....

And you decide to twist the throttle ??

I've ridden enough dirt to know never ever give up but Fuck me thats another league
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

He is gifted beyond my comprehension, so as sceptical as I am I will grudgingly believe it.

Motomatters has an exellent story about how all teams work in terms of money support etc from Dorna. When I managed a 250GP team in 1993 I think it was, we got $10-000 US $ for 2 250 bikes to do 1 lap of the race each round and FREE freight for all the fly away rounds as a total privateer team.
