    1999 Yamaha YZF-R1

    As per TradeMe ad:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=640474787

This is Hybris, she has been my pride and joy for the last wee while but the time has come to sell and get something a little better suited to my height.

She is pretty much completely standard, the only mods being the following:

    - Oxford Hot Grips
    - Scottoiler with dual injector kit
    - Double bubble style screen
    - Frame sliders/Crash knobs
    - Rear stand bobbins
    - Dragon braided front brake lines
    - K&N air filter
    - De-baffled factory exhaust

I have spent a lot of time and money in maintaining her so she runs nicely and rides well with oil and filter services done every 5000km, spark plugs every 15000km etc. Whenever the carbs have been removed I have cleaned them im the ultrasonic cleaner and re-balanced them. I had the team at Motorcycle Replacements do the valve clearances mid October last year and they will be due to be done again in about 8000-10000kms.

The following list is some of what has been done in the 12 months:

    - Fork oil and seals replaced
    - New chain and sprockets, valve clearances checked, carbs balanced
    - New Fuel filter
    - New Dragon braided front brake lines
    - New K&N air filter
    - New throttle position sensor
    - New steering head bearings, front and rear wheel bearings, swing arm bearings, rear lower linkage bearings and bushings
    - New throttle cable assembly

I also have a seat cowl that goes with the bike when sold

    Odo is in miles

I have the complete maintenance history for the time that I have owned her and so far she has never missed a beat.

As with a bike of this age there are a few stone chips/scrapes here and there, I have only dropped her twice and only from standing as you can see there is only a small amount of scraping on the right side fairing.

I will be sad to see her go but it is time to get something better suited for my build.

here is a link for a walk around and to hear her running:

Whoever cleans that bike, should take up masturbation. They're gonna need something to fill all the time they are about to have on their...erm...hands.

Haha yea thanks fellas. Tigertim is right, though pedantic is not quite the right word - more like obsessive. These are awesome bikes, and being the 1st gen carb variety and the fact that she still has the factory exhaust system with EXUP valve they crank out the power from just above idle, can be ridden through town at idle or be thrashed around the track. I did the Southern Rider Escapade last year on her with a few fellas. We did 1500kms in less than 24 hours around the greater South Island area and she never missed a beat.

Going to miss her for sure but like I say - I need something better suited to my height (6ft4) and riding habits.

And just for interests sake I did a trip up to Darfield and back to Dunedin (700kms) and she averaged 4.6L/100km which is wickedly good fuel economy for a superbike...
