Its hardly a crimimal offense like you make it out to be though
I do apologise, I forgot to put the "irony" sticker on my post.

Crimimal? no, its not, neither is it criminal, but it is against the law. I do not count it a bright idea to come on an internet forum and declare you are intending to flout said law.

I would be the first to say ACC is far from perfect. However, the naivety of some in this country as to the alternatives is simply gobsmacking.
    ACC means
Free rehab (this can extend to tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars)
    80% of your wage paid
No personal injury claims allowed by law

All for less than $35 a month!

Why do you think motor insurance is available at the rates possible?

So in the meantime, the OP is afforded the same protection and assistance as I am even though he has made a decision to "show them" at the ACC that he is a clever boy. The word "criminal" has been used in less appropriate circumstances than this.

This is of course assuming said OP is not simply an evil troll

Which comes in mighty handy when needed.

Fine for being caught without licence - $200 (assuming they don't try to convict ya, ya can't argue your way out and assuming they don't book you for having no WOF).

While rego hold isn't recommended as an ongoing practice there are a lot of motorcycles that take a winter 'holiday', and that's according to the local WOF testing station chappies. Makes sense to not be paying substantial ORCs when the said vehicle spends little time actually on the road during winter.

What is this 'winter holiday' for bikes you speak of? That's like having a penis and not taking it out for a play on a regular basis...

Cheaper for me to get pinged 3 or 4 times a year for not having rego on my Safari than to actually get it in theory. Haven't put it into practice though. Would imagine it is much the same on bigger CC bikes.

I suspect that the rego is taking a holiday more so than the bike

People in Auckland should be paying more than anywhere else in the country given that they have more vehicles and are therefore more likely to be in a crash. Hang on, scratch that... they should be paying the second highest after those in Chch coz they have boi racers, really really bad rapist dangerous ones.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
