Will be watching it and will enjoy it whatever the outcome though always hope for a blue oval win, only downside to Bathurst is Mondays are always hard work.

I don't think the "Great Race" is dying at all.Now that Nissan and Mercedes have got in it's opened the door for manufacturers from all over the world putting in teams.
My best memories of Bathurst was the 70's with the big V8 fords and holdens, straight 6 valiants and anything else with 4 wheels getting thrashed around the track.
Never too old to Rock n Roll.

Since I own a Holden they've got to win but then, in the rest of the family is a Merc and a Ford, so it's more fun for using that for some ribbing.

I've been for rides when it's on (wow, roads were empty and awesome) or sat and watched a bit if I pass by and don't have something else to do. As said, first and last few laps are normally the most interesting...

    Cheers for the link Hayd3n.

Picked my moments I think. Watched it for about 10m in the middle (lap eightysomething?) during which Murph side-fucked the wall with his car. Pity they didn't show an incar shot.

Buggered off to do more important things (BBQ dinner) and when I returned was treated to 20-30m of some fuckin' good racing to finish the race with.

Every Bathurst I have ever watched has been epic, Though I don't generally don't bother with the four hours in the middle.

Having said that, I spent all of today at White Water World and didn't see any of the racing.

I was at the supermarket yesterday morning (Sunday papers etc) and there were a couple in their late 50's with a loaded trolley of beer/chips and a roll of paper towels from what I could see. They were both wearing the exact same Ford shirt. I stood and looked at them until one made eye contact with me and then I asked ''Bathurst Day''? all I got was a sheepish ''yip'' as if it were a bad thing to been seen in public with your spouse wearing the same clothes.

Got back to Hamilton from the Pink Ribbon ride in Auckland (what a great effort by all concerned!!!!!!) Down to the pub by 3.00 pm to watch the rest of the race - free hamburgers supplied by the host and nice cold beer.

What I noticed most was NO ADS - you beauty it can stay on Sky forever, when it was on TV3 it was 10 minutes racing 5 minutes ads and then a re-cap every hour for all the things you missed.

Great Day Sunday - Great Pink Ribbon Ride - Great Beer - Great Race
