    Welcome to the real world.

Chch bus exchange was bad for that when I was younger. "I need $2 to get home, help me out man."
"Sure, I'll pay for you, what bus you catching?"
"Nah just give me the $2 I'll sort it."

    Sureeeee

I did however pay for a bus ride for a dude who had his wallet stolen to get home for Christmas when I was in Serbia. Poor bastard was trying to trade me his lunch for it (it looked terrible as well which sucked cus I was really hungry).
But yeah you need to see/read about some more of the world if you think some annoying kids begging is bad.

On a work call-out one night, I was approached by an asian bloke, around 30ish, sharply dressed and immaculately groomed - after some coins "for food".

Coincidentally, only a block away from the casino...

Every now and then I'll pass a dollar or two to someone on the street that seems worse off than me. Who gives a fuck... I've had people help me out in the past and if once in a while my couple of bucks goes to someone who genuinely needs it then great. If I give a dollar to someone who used it to buy drugs or alcohol that's all good too (probably what I was gonna buy with it anyway). All up I kind of think it must suck to sit there with a sign asking for help with people just pretending you don't exist and walking by. If I've got a couple of bucks spare then I'll give it and if I've been scammed that's on me. That's the story I tell myself but if I was going to be totally honest....

At the end of the day I don't really care about poor people or kids going hungry or disadvantaged people in general. They can all basically fuck off but if I can give one of them (or someone pretending to be one of them...makes no difference to me) some loose change and then feel less guilty about not giving a shit about them for a while....sweet. I'll go without that second flat white or skip sushi that afternoon and go home for lunch instead. In summary, beggars and buskers provide an important service by being poor as they allow me to buy back a couple of dollars worth of guilt for not giving a shit about them in general.

we had this discussion in another thread. Me an my homies used to offer them jobs. All they had to do was turn up sober (not far from where they were hussling).
    Total that did = 0.
I help those who want to help theyselves. The rest, get them to dance like a monkey then scatter a handful of change down the footpath.
