    LOL but really Pete?

Sex for any older person is overrated and the people protesting couldn't care less about it. They are simply and powerlessly angry because this rich man has no shame. He will brush aside and fumble any and all criticism just so he can keep his job. No doubt he expects to be reelected after 3 years given the public have short memories.

The problems with Mr Brown are as follows:

    1. It is completely wrong both ethically and legally for an older man in a position of authority to prey on council staff. Imagine your daughter/niece etc working under him...

    2. The council has already disciplined at least two staff for sexual activities but for some strange reason the mayor is exempt. Has the man no dignity, no shame? He will observe staff being dismissed but he gets a free pass?

    3. Mr Brown was untruthful with respect to the extra financial benefits he received as Mayor - he completely failed to disclose them.

    4. Mr Brown has not at any point shown true humility. He apologises and says how hard this has been on his family and on himself, but at no point does he raise his head open his heart and apologise to the people of Auckland.

    The guy is totally selfcentred.

I thought the rest of the country either couldn't be bothered with or hated Auckland already...

Like it or not there would be no NZ without Auckland and the Mayor is the face of Auckland ... Len Brown Does not fit that face any more!

If his position is going to have so much effect on the whole country then the whole country should be involved in who is selected to fill it!

America's (USA) president has so much effect on the rest of the world and only American citizens choose who fills that position, is that right?

We (NZ citizens) rely on Aucklanders to make the right choice and in this case I believe Aucklanders have (unwittingly) been duped!

Only Aucklanders can sort the Len Brown fiasco out and so far it appears as though they are going to drop the ball.

Aucklanders should be given the vote to see if they want him to stay or go, only then can they (Aucklanders) be judged fairly! IMHO.

Well... He is trying to get in touch with his Asian side...
(look at the percentage of Aucklanders who are Asian in the last census statistics)

The affair was kept very quiet until after the mayoral election. A re-election would be desirable to either confirm or reject this incumbent idiot's position.

I see in the NZ Herald today, anti Len Brown councillor Cameron Brewer has admitted to not declaring a four day Gold Coast junket in 2012.

Who and what's next I wonder?

Turns out that Cameron Brewer did actually declare that trip, there was a retraction from the harold later today but no apology with it.
Pants Down Brown's attempt to shift the focus off him was rather premature it seems. He is now just a laughing stock with no credibility and can't be taken seriously. Time for a re-election.

That's weird, I read he declared the 2011 trip but didn't see any retraction though.

Anyway, laughing stock etc is bang on.

Yep, both the original news post and the retraction came down rather quickly. I'm guessing some editor got their arse kicked.
There is an article about it on the WhaleOil Blog site also.

Editors? Do NZ media outlets have editors?
Journalistic standards are already low and descending into subterranean.

Yep, you're right Swoop, it's almost got to the stage of believing half of what you see and nothing of what you read about.
Especially if it's in the Harold.

NZ media simply publish any press release and then wait to see if anyone else complains.

Investigative reporting amounts to regurgitating a dead/beaten/arrested kid's facebook statuses or twitter feed.
    Keep on chooglin'
