It would be a 2.5hr ride from waipu to waipapakauri beach access nonstop. Going on the fact that it takes me 1hr 40min in my ute from south whangarei to coopers beach and then 20min from there to kaitaia.
Say hi to Sergei for us!
Hey Al! You're more than welcome to come for a ride :P I had so much fun with you guys last March, I have to do it again. Took some convincing my friends that 90 mile can be done on a sports bike!

Yeah, even if 90 mile beach isn't feasible over the Saturday/Sunday it'll still be an awesome trip adventuring around the upper North Island. Gives a bit more time to stop off at different places too.
Still got a month to plan so we'll see how it turns out.

Haha, cheers bud! Will see what happens time wise? Yeah that was only the second time I have biked the beach but would have no probs doing it 2up with the wife on the back. First time was on a GN250 and I stopped and did loads of donuts on the way up.
    To distract the cops.

Low tide is 7.20 approx on sat23rd and high tide is about 13.30. So you would need to aim to hit the beach at 10.00 at the latest heading up and /or coming down you will have to wait till about 3.30pm before going thru Te Paki.
Sunday these times will be about half an hour later.

Oh I thought we'd want to hit the beach about 3 hours after high tide (if coming from the bottom) so we'd have receeding tide and the stream would be nice and empty when we got up to the top?

Correct either way! But you can be on the beach probably up to about 11.30am or wait til about 3.30pm, was my point assuming my tide times are right.

It was great! Plus in Te Paki stream I went in the deep stuff and was riding it around in about 600mm of water.

I've updated the second post with a proposed itinerary that will be good for people who need to work on Monday.
I've also put a list of tide times for the different days to help with planning.
Let me know what you guys think.

I wouldn't want to get my bike covered in salty water/sand.... Unless there's a wash world near by. If I come is there an option for avoiding the beach?

could be fun 2 weekends in a row.

Yeah you can just stay on state highway one instead and meet us when we get off the beach (or at the campsite).
I think at least one other person is not keen to ride on the beach so he'll be happy to have someone to ride with on the road.

Don't think my ninja would much appreciate the sand either , so I'd also be on the highway. Super keen to come along however.
