    Honda CB250 Hornet 1996 speedometer?

So I am the proud new owner of a 1996 CB250. The speedometer/tacho unit is missing and needs to be replaced. I am having trouble finding a second hand replacement unit in NZ. Does anyone know of it needs to be specifically for the 1996 model year or are all the model years the same? Also, does anyone know where I could find one? Or is there an aftermarket one available for the Hornet?

    Cheers

Bicycle speedo will work fine and be legal I believe.

Yeah.... I'm not going to use a bicycle speedo. Having no tacho on a bike that revs to 16000 is just a recipe for trouble.

Cheers for the link. Looks like it could be useful.

Ebay, there are a ton of standard clusters out there for around $200 shipped.

While you're at it, hopefully there's still an italian selling Hornet 600 rear shocks with spring for $110 shipped. My advice is to get one - best value for money upgrade ever.

Thanks speeding_ant. Will any model year fit my bike? There are lots of clusters listed for the 2005-6 bikes.
Will definitely check out that rear shock as well

I believe for your model you want the one with the white background and temperature gauge: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Speedometer-...59d34a&vxp=mtr

This is the shock, looks like he's still selling them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMMORTIZZATO...item58a4dd3642

It should slot straight in (did for mine). If not, it's a very minor modification to the shock bolt. The chassis didn't change much at all between the 1996 -> 2006 production.

What's the difference between the speedo model years? The mounts all looked the same to me.

Earlier models had a temperature gauge, and the more modern ones have a fuel gauge and a temperature light. It's not the mounts, it's the wiring that differs.

Ive got a semi-broken speedo for a 2001 CB400SF, just needs a new back cover for it.
PM me if you're keen on a photo.
