NZ Herald 10 Kiwi Motorsports Greats

Erice Thompson proves what a fucking nupty he is again:

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz-motorsp...ectid=11157832

Who was the last Kiwi to win a premier grand prix of any code, Eric?
Simon Crafar, who won the 1998 British 500 GP (and became the last person to beat Doohan) isn't even given an honourable mention.

Eric is an embarrassment, even by the shit house standards of NZ.

think you mean Shayne King, to be fair was he a great all rounder, we've had a lot of racers in the two and four wheel world so top ten would have to be pretty special

To be fair, his article didn't say Top 10. Reading it briefly suggests he's either an old(ish) fart himself or largely rehashed an old farts' article and added a few later names to it. Meh, I was surprised the NZ Herald is still around...

The reporter does state that one of the criteria is that they had won a World championship or one of the great races.

But in its day wasn't the Arai500 at Bathurst 'one of the great races'? What he did there on the McIntosh Suzuki as a privateer against was reasonably significant.
Not to mention his multiple national championships on bikes and his notable efforts in the Transam car series

Agreed, but a "great race" is bloody ambiguous. This list is likethe Halberg awards.

Where is Stroudys name? Would be top 5 at least on my list.

He's well regarded by the classic racing folks Oscar.

My addition wold be Andrew Strauss.
Has anyone dominated domestic racing like him?
Only thing he seems to have more of than titles is children.
