CBR250RR headlights?

Turns out I'm rather used to seeing where I'm going at night so I'm looking to upgrade, wondering if anyone has experience with either of these kits?

Alternative to those kits.....:

LED bulbs? (have been told they are good for being visible to drivers during the day but crap at night)

Any other bolt on light suggestions?

I've heard good things about the wiring upgrades for honda bros's which are the same era and same tech. If you have a voltmeter it is easy to check too, just measure the voltage across the bulb when it is running, and subtract that from your battery voltage, anything over 0.5V iirc is said to make a large difference when the wiring is upgraded. Would be the first thing to check/do anyway, then bulbs, think some guys on here reckon those phillips ones are pretty good.

Good point. Will try the meter out and see what condition each one it in, but the general consensus is you WILL burn out at least your factory switch with the higher/normal bulbs for people who can't see in the dark (60/55w or whatever)

I really can't see how it couldn't, but would it be legal to just wire up some new lights in their place to a separate switch which would bypass all the burning out problems with the bigger bulbs and factory switches/connections, and then just run one bulb on low beam and both on high to lower the battery drain at idle? My headlights aren't tied into the ignition to always run as it is anyway.

Have you used just the LED's on your weapon at night?

If you go too overboard you'll start to heat up the reflector/bucket a bit much, which is why the light efficiency is quite important, not just the wattage; I think that plus beam pattern issues make it illegal to fit significantly higher wattage bulbs.

Yeh, they were pretty dim, and scrolling around meant I could only see in front or to one side at a time... HID unit is pretty epic though

ahh yeah I read about that in my travels too. Bulbs in there now are 55/35 H4R's or some such, so the housing can handle a 60/55. I don't need to go higher than that I wouldn't think and those +50% +80% etc etc bulbs run cooler than straight out OEM crappers anyway as they are designed a lot better.

I'm not sure about the spread and the like, but that's why I thought if I could just pull the factory ones out all together and wire new ones in with new wiring/switch it would sidestep any of those problems.

In saying that I could save some beer money if I was able to just use new bulbs and wiring and 'recycle' teh existing housings.

I read a bit about HID's but rule of thumb seems to be you're either all in budget wise, or it isn't worth it, and I'm not willing to throw hundreds and hundreds at lighting on this particular bike (unless maybe it was a bolt on I could take off and use on the next bike too).

So it turns out someone has already changed one housing to H4 with a file and converted the other sides bulb to H4R with a piece of copper wire, and thrown 60/35 bulbs in there.
So I'm already slightly better off but they're still crap haha.
Only one high beam was working though as the plug on the other has started melting and only works on low beam. Good times.

Murphy's Law dictates my switch will burn out before I get a chance to rectify it all.
