If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
You guys are joking with the fuel concerns right??
Christchurch to Kaikoura via the inland road is only 200km, don't think I've ever had a street legal bike that couldn't go that far. That would be a little bit sad.
Only about 170km back down SHW1.
Don't know what I'm up to yet, plan A involved Reefton and dirt but that may have been put off.
If I was sure to go I may have voted big block but Kaikoura would do.

What/ where is "The Block"?

On a 17l tank I get about 170-180 til the light comes on. Reserve hits around 13l mark so about 4l left in tank. On a good stretch of road riding I can squeeze upto 200kms from 13 litres. So that's about 6.5l per 100kms on a really good day.
Akaroa GP? Somewhere around 7.5 litres per 100kms on cruisy moderate pace.
Mind you, the bike is running with power commander tuned tad rich on bottom end of rev. I get better economy when riding over around mid/high range![]()

Exactly, spirited riding on the thou gets me about 210km, on the track about 160'ish. Not sure how far it'd go if I nana'ed it.
Ride will be to Kaikoura via the inland route and return on coastal road.
Meet at The Peg Hotel carpark in Belfast at 9:00 am for a 9:30 am departure.
Weather is looking good for the ride. If you are coming along - I will see you at the Peg 9:00am.
Have a good one, I'm riding thru the Molesworth again, camping up North somewhere for a change.

In 2010 and 2011 I did the MCC endurance races (Ruapuna) on an 09 675 Daytona, came 2nd both times, in 2011 was accidentally classified as Superbike, not 600, still came 2nd, be fair to say the throttle spent a lot of time on the stop!, longer races give you a chance to get a consistant average, on track the baby triple will do 119 kms to a full tank, in the real world before it became a race bike, it would do 260/280 depending on "spiritedness"
My Busa will do between 280 and 300 k depending on "spiritedness", hard use 2up doesn't seem to overly effect fuel use, as of next week will be on a new GSXR 1000, never ridden one on the road before, not sure what to expect, but my GSXR1000 Superbike used about the same fuel as the Daytona, works out to about 2 laps (Ruapuna) to a litre of 98, am hoping to get good mileage from it cause I like to do stuff like "round the block", and, god help me, the Akaroa GP!
Speed kills-just ask the rabbit......
Have to say it was a good day out. Forgot how much fun it was to ride with another busa, only saw one police car when we stopped in Amberley on our way home.
The weather was great once we got out of Christchurch.
Where was everyone else?
I really enjoyed the ride. Was fun with the porsche. He was![]()
